I am supposed to be in a wedding at the Palomar hotel in Chicago, on State and Grand -Any idea where there is a good cheap place to stay near there? Preferable within walking distance? I can’t camp in city limits right?
Define cheap. The wedding is at a hotel that is 2 blocks off of the Magnificent Mile in Chicago.
Under $100 - and I know it is a tall order. I was even considering staying at the Hostel, but I’m too old for that…It was fun when I was 20 but almost 20 years later not-so-much!

Otherwise your best bet is Priceline or Hotwire, specifying Mag Mile Area.
Under $100 is probably a tall order for downtown. Just down the street is the Homewood Suites, which often has decent weekend rates, as they seem to cater primarily to business travelers staying for the work week. I would take a look there as it’s nearby, includes a free breakfast, and has nice sizable suites. It’s probably about the best deal in the immediate neighborhood, and you might be able to find something for around $100, but less than $100 seems unlikely.
Rock bottom price that I’m aware of in the vicinity of Michigan Avenue is the Ohio House Motel, a 60s-style motel at 600 N. LaSalle, $117-$150. It gets mixed reviews; see:
