Cheap trips to France and back?

I’m thinking of going on a day trip to France, to buy cheap tobacco and booze.

The cheapest price I could find was £29 return trip, by coach from London to Calais.

Can you recommend me any cheaper ways to get there and back?

Also, can anyone recommend a good supermarket for a foot passenger to get to in Calais?

Have you checked how cheap coaches to Dover/Ramsgate etc plus foot passenger costs works out?

Plus, don’t expect tobacco to be so cheap any more…the French have put massive tax increases on it. It’s still cheaper than the UK, but not as much as it used to be.

Have you considered Spain instead? This summer I met an English guy there who said he made money smuggling cigarettes back to England.
