Nobody’s mentioned Viet Nam?! Well, actually, I guess that’s not so surprising. However, despite its past wars, Viet Nam is a beautiful country with friendly people, great food, and unspoiled beaches (and a few spoiled ones). It’s also very, very inexpensive! Come for a visit, and I’ll show you!
What interests me are the oddball places that people go to retire! I can understand most people…after a lifetime of work, you want to live in a place that is clean, safe, and warm (read FLORIDA). But some people choose really weird places to retire…for instance, I once met a retired AF pilot who lived in Fairbanks Alaska! He told me that Fairbanks is very popular with military retirees…who in his right MIND would want to live there?
Oh, and my local TV channel carried news of a new ttend…people who retire to Northern Maine??
