Cheapest shave?

Just curious what is the cheapest way to shave over an ave shaving life span of lets say 70 shaving years? Electric corded, electric recharagable, blade-disposable, or replaceable blade?

My guess would be that replaceable blade and corded electric would be the top 2. Recharagables would need to be replaced or rebuit when the battery pack givs out and in my experence disposables don’t last as long and often cost more then the cost of the blade (not always true however). Also it is obvious that a rechargable one would be more convienent then a corded one but really don’t know how to compensate that benefit on a cost basis.

Straight razor and a brush would have to be cheapest, especially if you have medical insurance to cover the lacerations.

I think growing a beard is probably by far the cheapest.

Shaving soap.

I use a bar of olive oil soap from the whole food store (Soap Works, if anyone cares). Costs me a buck fifty cdn and my first bar lasted just over a year and a half. I’ve still got the same $15 shaving brush I’ve had for 15 years. Granted it has lost a few bristles and I had to re-stain the handle and seal it, but it’s holding up just fine.

A while ago I was asking around here about straight razors. Between that thread and a long heart-to-heart with my barber I’ve more or less given up on the idea. However, he did give me a really neat tip: keep my disposable blade upright in a small dish of baby oil, and shake off the oil before shaving. I’ve been using the same blade for about a month and a half now. (about a three-fold increase in life so far), plus I think the oil coating actually helps for a bit of lube. No slgn of dulling and No Blood.

YMMV.
