Cheapest way from Toronto to Vilnius?

I hope to go to the [url="http://www.uea.org/kongresoj/index.html"90th Universal Congress of Esperanto, in Vilnius, Lithuania, in July 2005. The Congress isn’t that expensive–less than 200 euros if I sign up before the end of March–but getting there’s the problem (and accomodations, I suppose), as I haven’t much money.

What’s the cheapest way to get there and back? The absolute cheapest way to get to the European continent from Toronto is to fly to London, but beyond that, what? Domestic European flight? Bus? Train? Is it cheaper overall to fly to somewhere further east like Helsinki or Vienna and get a bus from there? Go direct to Vilnius?

For that matter, are there any Dopers in the area who can tell me about Lithuania or Vilnius?

Thanks!

Zoom fly Toronto-Gatwick, conveniently from where British Airways and Lithuanian Airlinesthe fly for Vilnius, both of whose July flights are currently starting at £100-£150. You could make it cheaper getting there another way, bus train or ferry, but I suspect it’d be worth the extra bit of cash for the comfort.
