Airfares between Europe and North America go up a lot in the summer, but that’s pretty high.
You might want to think about buying one ticket to New York, Toronto, Chicago, or some other large gateway city, and a second ticket from there to London.
As a general rule of thumb, a decent price for a US gateway city to London in Europe would be under $700US.
Not to be a pain or anything, but London isn’t necessarily the best place to visit in the summer, mostly because of the cost. If you’re travelling just for pleasure, and you can spare the time, fares usually drop quite a bit starting in October.
RyanV,
I will make another attempt to post this (sometimes this MB is a ridiculous POS), I just bought a round trip ticket from Houston, Texas to London from Continental for $559.00 US, I bought the ticket directly from them using the website, I looked at a bunch of “cheapo” ticket sites but there are so many hidden charges that by the time you actually get the ticket it is over priced.
I feel your pain. I flight everysummer to France and the cheapest I ever found was 640 dollars.
I found a web site that I find very good. You send them a request and they distribute it to 5 travel agencies in the country, and they get back to you pretty quickly.
I have used them three times so far, they were unbeat price wise.
www.etn.nl (yes .nl! but I used them for US to Europe round tickets).
Edmonton --> New York - $364
New York --> London - $493
$857 instead of $1040 and the times are perfect as well!
PLUS with the addition of 2 stops, I think my mom will give me her airmiles which would make Edmonton to New York FREE so that total is $493!!!
