Whats the best way to get the cheapest ticket from Atlanta to London?

Also what’s the lowest fare you’ve seen for a transatlantic flight?

I’ve checked travelocity and such and about $1000 is about the lowest i’ve seen for a round trip between Atlanta and London. Do they go much cheaper? Are travel agents a better option?

I just checked in Orbitz.com for some random dates about 2 months from now, and the cheapest that I found was $802, of which $413 is the actual fare and $389 is taxes and fees. That is probably about as low as you will get.

Some tips:
(1) Book a month or two in advance.
(2) Be outside peak seasons.
(3) Book in the middle of week, not on or near a weekend, for international travel. (My dates were both Wednesdays).
(4) Expect some inconvenience. (My low fares involved two overnight stays at Pearson Airport, in Toronto, Ontario)
