I’ve been living in a hotel room for the last 2 weeks. During the day I come back to the apartment I’m leaving, in order to pack my stuff and go online, etc. Anyway, the first room they gave me was a normal room, only with a little kitchen like all the rooms here have (people stay in them for months, sometimes, while waiting for housing to be available.)
Well, on Sunday they informed me that I had to move to another room, since someone had already reserved my old room for this week. They’re very crowded this week and the only available room was the fancy suite they give to generals. For the same $32 a night that I got the other room for, I now get to stay in a place so impressive I just had to share some pictures:
What is a little hard to make out is the sheer size of it…it’s got a seperate bedroom and the livingroom/diningroom area is very long. Besides the table with 6 chairs, I also have a long counter with 4 barstools. In the back there’s a cabinet with VERY expensive looking japanese dolls. And I am a lover of cherrywood furniture, so I really, really love the furniture in there. Man, I wish I could afford to own stuff that looks like this. Maybe someday!
Dayam! The Generals sure do live nice! Can I assume this is on a military installation? That room is wonderful. Will they let you stay there for the rest of your visit or will you have to move back to the bed-in-a-box?
Things are ok, if a bit monotonous. In order for me to leave here, they have to do a bunch of paperwork, which has to travel around and get various signatures. This has taken over two weeks so far. Apparently it is due to be signed by the last person today. After that, they can get plane tickets for me to leave. The bad part of that is having to remain here and not knowing exactly when I’m going to leave, wanting to leave and not being able to, which after awhile makes me start to feel a bit like a prisoner. The good part of it is that they’ll pay for my plane ticket…so it’s worth the wait. That and I get to stay in that room!
I probably could stay there longer than a week, as long as nobody important is coming in next week, but most likely I’ll be out of here sometime early next week (I hope) so there will be no need for that anyway.
