As an artist I wanted a Tablet PC as soon as they came out, but they were all woefully underpowered compared to a decent regular desktop or laptop. They’ve gotten a lot more powerful though, and when the Asus R1F came out with a 13.3" screen and an optical drive for under 5lbs, I decided to get one.

The specs:
T7600 2.16 ghz core2duo
2 gigs memory
100 gb 7200 rpm HD
13.3" widescreen with 256 level pressure sensitivity (wacom)

What I got it for, really, is the painting. No more breaking out canvas, dropcloth and paints anytime I want to paint; I’ve got every color I need and no mess. I’ve used the wacom tablets before for painting but drawing directly on the screen like you can with a tablet PC is way better. I picked up Artrage for $20 and this is the best $20 program I’ve ever seen (I probably will buy Corel Painter as well, though). I made up a blog to post my paintings: http://tabletpaint.com/

That’s a pretty sweet machine. I’ve always liked ASUS product. They make a super nice ultra portable that I had my eye on. Nice paintings too! Jeez, I’m still painting with a god damn mouse. Talk about carpal tunnel syndrome. Painting directly on the screen must be a dream. I am envious.

I’ve a Toshiba R-15 for a bit now and love it. I use it almost everyday.

I have often thought about getting one, but can never really justify doing so. Yours is pretty cool though
