gyt_fx,
I think that what people are trying to say, with more venom, your site isn’t that spectacular.
As a webmistress your background is harsh, the content lacks in anything original, basically, it rates right up there with 90% of the personal websites out there. It sucks.
A true personal website anymore has a blog, has true insight and easy to read.
I wouldn’t put this up here but it’s the truth. Having designed 7, websites since 1997, it’s cute but not as good as you might think.
I hate to be a bitch about it, and that’s not my intention but I think I speak of truth. Simplicity in design is important so as not to distract the user. Simple but insightful comments are great. Link because they are links are old.
Essentially, think about your site and what you want to convey. Get or create a design that is pleasing to the eye. Think of your site as an extension of you. Don’t include a bunch of stuff that doesn’t reflect who you are, if you must link, ensure it’s things you are passionate about.
Personal web pages can really suck and most of them do. I took mine down because it was just lame. If someone really wants to get to know me they know the ways to do so. Your site, while intriguing (sp) in a trainwreck sort of way, it’s boring.
I have no other way to tell you as such. There’s no blood, no guts, nothing we can ponder and really think about. In short it’s fluff.
Sorry sweetie but as a web designer (one of my main sources of income) it would be interesting if you really poked in your soul and made it something that is YOU.
Now that I am done with my critique, know that I took mine off a few years ago. Personal web pages can be tedious (sp) and annoying…no matter the person that designed and published it.
