Check out this good website

Hey, anyone wanna know a good site to visit?
http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/WOOD5959/

It has many funny jokes, pictures, comics, facts, and I also have a page dedicated to StraightDope and includes links to some of my favorite SD columns.

post what you think about it:dubious:
thx

Thanks, but I think I’ll pass.

Your photograph disturbed me and your background burned out my retinas trying to read the text over it.

What the hell is the kid in the striped shirt looking for?? Did he lose his watch?

gyt_fx,

I think that what people are trying to say, with more venom, your site isn’t that spectacular.

As a webmistress your background is harsh, the content lacks in anything original, basically, it rates right up there with 90% of the personal websites out there. It sucks.

A true personal website anymore has a blog, has true insight and easy to read.

I wouldn’t put this up here but it’s the truth. Having designed 7, websites since 1997, it’s cute but not as good as you might think.

I hate to be a bitch about it, and that’s not my intention but I think I speak of truth. Simplicity in design is important so as not to distract the user. Simple but insightful comments are great. Link because they are links are old.

Essentially, think about your site and what you want to convey. Get or create a design that is pleasing to the eye. Think of your site as an extension of you. Don’t include a bunch of stuff that doesn’t reflect who you are, if you must link, ensure it’s things you are passionate about.

Personal web pages can really suck and most of them do. I took mine down because it was just lame. If someone really wants to get to know me they know the ways to do so. Your site, while intriguing (sp) in a trainwreck sort of way, it’s boring.

I have no other way to tell you as such. There’s no blood, no guts, nothing we can ponder and really think about. In short it’s fluff.

Sorry sweetie but as a web designer (one of my main sources of income) it would be interesting if you really poked in your soul and made it something that is YOU.

Now that I am done with my critique, know that I took mine off a few years ago. Personal web pages can be tedious (sp) and annoying…no matter the person that designed and published it.

and you use frames !
Arrrrrggghhhhhh !

It’s “You’re gonna die”. Not “Your gonna die.”

What is that little boy doing to that child’s ass?

Yeah… that caught me a bit by surprise

lol… yes, in response to techchick68: Its a free website service. The options are quite limited. And the the pictures and jokes and whatnot I find funny.
Now the reason i posted this on here is: well, its Mundane Pointless Stuff I Must Share…
and because i mainly refer you guys to the straightdope section, which i have put links to some of my favorite columns.

and about the 2 little kids… I just it as an odd half-amusing picture that may catch some people by surprise

Flammable Buttcheeks

BAND NAME!

How did I screw up that coding??

Maybe you’d’ve done better to title it differently. Everyone’s seen a ‘good website.’ Eg. try ‘diss my website’ or something. People like criticizing… And jokes are a lot funnnier if you don’t expect them to be any good. (Liked the randy rooster one)

Ya’ll watch out, it crashed my computer.

You know, I’ve been wondering about that usage of “anymore” ever since a friend of mine (also from Colorado… just outside Denver, actually) used it in a similar way. Is it just a Colorado thing, or what? Never really asked him about using it that way, or even what it meant.

And don’t worry… you spelled “intriguing” correctly.

F_X

Almost all of your images and jokes revolve around sex, private parts, or gruesome death. Right there you’re limiting your audience to teenage boys who always find those things funny, by definition. Most of us automatically delete tons funny lists, dirty jokes, and crazy pictures from our in-boxes anyway so there is really no reason to go looking for it.

I personally think that only a small fraction of a home page should be a copy and paste job from other web pages. Most of it should reflect your interests and concerns, as techchick said.

As for the visual aspect, I would suggest looking at some professionally designed sites. It won’t turn you into a pro, but it might set you in the right direction. I rarely see professionally designed sites that use a textured background, or use horizontal lines to separate sections of the page.

What else. Well, you have an editable text input line with instructions on how to use the site. #1: There is no reason for the user to edit these instructions, and #2: It’s completely unnecessary because everyone already knows how to click on links.

The first thing I would do is remove that bizarre and disturbing photo from the home page.

I think your Straight Dope section would be improved greatly if it mentioned the studly good looks of one Happy B. Lendervedder.

Hoo boy Techie, I sure hope that was a typo, and you meant to say “700” or something? I mean, if it’s really 7 pages since 1997, aren’t you hungry by now?

I am so not posting a link to my website. You people would not appreciate the joke about the guy who died farting. Not to mention the story about the farmer’s daughter and the salesman.

Yep, it was a typo, stupid “fat finger syndrome” and I didn’t preview.

Farking typos…grrrrrrr.

In response to your statements Baraqiyal:

in the movie Chasing Amy, it was said ‘Its all in the d!ck and fart jokes.’ Which has a vague correctness, because usually the only kind of humor that doesnt involve crude remarks and gross references, is propoganda type humor that some comedians use, such as topics like jokes about ‘dubya’ or about the ole enron thing. Aside from that sarcasm is the only main taker of being humorous.

Yes, i may ‘copy/paste’ some stuff… I call it recreating… but so be it. As a reflection of my interests, i like reading jokes and looking at funny pictures, And reading funny/interesting stuff. Thats all i go on the internet for aside from news and/or homework purposes.

Yes yes, i do agree i should prolly change background and stuff. It can be a wee bit more harsh than nontextured backgrounds and bright colors, i accept that as some constructive criticism stated NICELY glares at techchick…. But as for the horizontal line… yea, im a bit limited and that just kind of seperates some stuff and i believe makes some stuff easier to read, especially if you take a short absence, itd be easier to find where you were at.

finally, ok, ill take out that text. I mainly referred the site to some of my friends-- and some of them aren’t too great with computers, so i put that as somewhat of a sarcastic reply to some of those idiots.

Eh, i think its a funny picture, i spose ill switch it with another
i wrote a hole F***in lot!
