Check, please, I'm outta here. (people killed over Xbox)

HIJACK!

You know what’s funny. On my sat system I didn’t have fox news on my list of channels. The other day I added it to see what the fox spin on things are these days. I was flipping around and ended up on fox the night this story broke. They had all these “specialists” on to talk about the case.

Now, this was just right after they found the bodies and the PD wasn’t talking to news yet other then “we found these people and a dog and they’re dead”

Within 10 minutes I heard fox speculate it was

  1. A drug killing
  2. A disgruntaled Burger King employee
  3. A robbery gone bad
  4. Hate crime.

and of course my favourite

  1. A ritual occult killing linked to satan (because there was a dead dog at the scene)

WHAT?!?!?

They spent 3-4 minutes on the whole occult thing. I almost wet myself I was laughing so hard.

It still is beyond me how Fox News is viewed as a real news channel.

END HIJACK!

Yup.

As far as I can tell, this was a revenge killing because the ringleader was kicked out for not paying rent. The fact he took back his xbox is completely incidental…

He was kicked out because he was living in the house without permission, squatting. It didn’t matter if he was paying rent or not.

They’ve moved him to another county jail, away from the same jail that houses the three 18-year-olds who confessed. There’s concern he may try to intimidate them.

Then, it may have been prevented if the probation officers had done their job.

Well, shit, if the child protection people in FL, can’t be bothered to do their jobs, why should the POs?

In a cheery side note to the story, there are reports the PO is now getting death threats.

I’d like to hear about his case load before I crucify the guy.

I am.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

YBMTI, but you forgot,

Smoking a Cigarette
Though I’ve almost been guilty of that myself

Slurpees
So much for the brain freeze defense

A seatbelt violation

A deer carcus

An Indian cultural dowry

…and I’m still waiting for killed for “oil”, “political ideology”, “non-existant WMD’s” and “religious beliefs” comments to be posted

All the people that said yes, isn’t this a pretty open and shut case? Is there any doubt they have the wrong guys?

*I don’t want to hijack to this to a death penalty debate, I was just asking specifically in this case. If the OP feels this is still hijacking, feel free to pimp slap me.

You asked; I answered. I’ll answer these two too: from what I know, yes and no.

My answer to the original question is still yes.

NO.

I don’t want my daughter growing up in a world in which these creatures are living and breathing.

Nope, no question about it-- these guys are as guilty as hell. They’re animals, disgusting, worthless, putrid filth who have not a single redeeming factor.

I believe that the death penalty is wrong. And if it’s wrong, it’s still wrong no matter how heinous the crime may have been.

Unfortunately, she’s going to grow up in a world in which there are many, many, many people like the four we’re discussing. Nothing you can do about it.

WARNING - this link is an extremely annoying, in your face, multiple pop-up, won’t let you close it until you’ve looked at each one site.

I’m against the death penalty, period. You say you don’t want a DP debate but how is it possible to explain why those of us who oppose Capital Punishment would oppose it in this case without debating the DP?

The DP system is flawed and rife with error. You say there is no doubt in this case but officially there is no reasonable doubt in any case where the DP is applied. Are we supposed to have a separate burden of proof for DP cases which calls for the jury to be really, really really sure? Can a jury say that a person is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt but not beyond all doubt? Mre importantly, would they?

I also think that death is too easy for them. Why should they be able to get a nice shot of dope and go to sleep without ever suffering any consequences? Personally, I would fear a life in prison with no hope of parole more than I would fear death.

I think there should be an extra level of penalty for psychopaths like this within the prison system. No hope of parole, no televisions or radios or computers, no conjugal visits, no communication with anyone on the outside but their attorneys and immediate family (meaning no writing letters to murder groupies). Put them on chain gangs and if they don’t want to work, let them rot in solitary. make them suffer every minute for the rest of their lives and don’t spare the ass pounding.

Oh, I know … doesn’t mean we shouldn’t cull them when they make themselves known, even if it makes the world only a very slightly better place for the rest of us.

You’re right, I’ll let this get back to the regularly scheduled thread.

No slapping necessary.

I’m sure the question of sanity is going to be raised by the sleazoid’s lawyers. Would a sane person beat someone beyond recognition over a videogame?

I would say it’s safe to say this wackjob is never going to be rehabilitated. If he doesn’t get the needle, he’ll be living the rest of his life in a place where he’ll get three squares a day, cable TV, and who knows what else.

What should he get? 23.5 hours a day in a cell by himself for the next how ever many years he has left on this planet. Nothing in the way of entertainment, no cellmate, zip.

Actually, I think that whole gang should share a single small and isolated cell for the rest of their lives. They can experience a life of finger pointing and screaming rages as they endlessly revisit the question of “Whose dumbshit idea was THAT?”

But then someone will come along and say, “Oooohh, that’s cruel and unusual punishment.”

Yeah, well somebody will come along any day to claim dial-up internet service is cruel and unusual too. Whaddayagonnado?
