Chemists/Biologists/Petroleum Engineers, lend me your knowledge!

I hope this belongs here.

I am composing a package for an Environmental Engineer we’re contracting to work on a big project. As part of the package, I’m describing how the town involved undertook their own groundwater sampling. These samples showed low levels of Ethyl Benzene, Xylene and F3…F3 what? I mean, I know it’s the C16 - C34 hydrocarbons, but how do I write this sentence?

'Groundwater impacts are unknown, however, in September and October the Town of ******** undertook independent water sampling which has shown that there are low levels of Ethyl Benzene, Xylenes, and F3 (chain hydrocarbons?).

FYI, I’m just starting a complete job transition from administrative to Environmental Analyst. I’m feeling overwhelmed already! :frowning:

I would write it as:

“Groundwater impacts are unknown, however, in September and October the Town of ******** undertook independent water sampling which showed low levels of ethyl benzene, xylenes, and F3 (C16-C34 Hydrocarbons).”

I’m an environmental engineer (in training) and that’s how I would do it.

That looks pretty good. Shall do! Thanks.
