Cheney, Dick

I’ll give Gibbler here the nod of the head she richly deserves. God bless Dio.

Also, this whole “there were no attacks after 9/11 so you know Bush/Cheney were onto something” recalls a conversation Homer & Lisa had a few years back:

Homer: Not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol is working like a charm!

Lisa: That’s specious reasoning, dad.

Homer (confused): Thank you.

Lisa: By your logic, I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away.

Homer: Hmm. How does it work?

Lisa: It doesn’t work; it’s just a stupid rock…

Homer: Uh-huh

Lisa: …but I don’t see any tigers around, do you?

Homer: Lisa. I want to buy your rock.

Well, obviously. Cheney has to claim credit for that in order to justify the Bush Administrations actions. If he stood up there, and said , “Yeah, we kept people locked up indefinately and and tortured them, but it didn’t really benefit the country any. Certainly didn’t make us more safe.”, that’s probably one of the worst justifications ever.

I think you’re underestimating the difficulty of finding somebody in a large anarchic region who doesn’t want to be found. I think that’s more likely than assuming an Evil Plan.

The whole point though is not that there have been no attacks, but what had to be sacrificed for that result. I mean we could insist that everyone have a tracking device implanted on them and that we must report in to our regional officer every day so the governement knows exactly where we are and what we are doing. That would probably make us very safe, too.

What about the snipers terrorizing the DC area - and killing 11 random people - in October 2002? Or do domestic terrorists not count?

Beltway Sniper Attacks

sometimes thetruth hurts.

It always hurts somebody, but usually it isn’t me. I’m* totally* cool with that.

When did you become Republican?

-Joe

He doesn’t *have *to do that; he could just shut up.

He and George keep saying, “oh the future will regard our administration heroically.” So I say … shut the fuck up and let history get to work.

You people seriously need to get a grip. It’s nonsense to praise past politicians for preventing attacks that had no precedent. Further, one can hardly blame Bush for not taking the Clinton’s warnings seriously when Clinton never acted on them himself. And then, once that precedent had occurred, President Bush made sure it didn’t happen again.

So once again I say:

Good job, Mr. Bush! Good job, Mr. Cheney!

Thank you!

Wacked-out thrill killers do not count as domestic terrorists, in my opinion.

Timothy McVeigh and the Murrah Building bombing does count as domestic terrorism, however, and if you want to play that kind of game I’ll point out that Bill Clinton was president at the time.

And I’d be willing to bet you never gave a thought to blaming him in the same way that you’re so quick to blame Bush for not stopping a couple of nut jobs who were shooting people from inside a car.

So Peter Kirsanow over at the National Review Online has this absolute gem in a brief snippet on the Cheney speech titled Cheney: Adult:

Now I wish to make three points about this line of argument…

#1) Seriosuly?
#2) Really?
#3) WTF?!?!

The argument, if I understand correctly, and I might not, becuase seriously WTF!!! As I understand it, oh hell, I don’t understand what the hell hsi point is. but I do not it is FRIGGIN’ Idiotic!! Andc also, in the event of a catastrophic asteroid coming toward earth, why would I choose someone who has about as much empathy for his fellow man as a Burmese Python has for a small rodent. What is he going to do, Water board the asteroid?? Hide in his private bunker?? and…

Why the hell am I even talking about this like it makes any sense or adds in any way to the debate???

What’s next on the “KEEP AMERICA SAFE” Tour:

Vampires?
Nazi Zombies?
Giant Insects?
Alien Invaders?
Evolved sentient apes?
Ghosts?
Godzilla?

BTW, did you notice that we had zero attacks from all these threats, including giant asteroids(!), during Bush’s administration. What you say about that all you Jerkface lefties!! Huh!? Go no answer for that, do ya!

What the fuck are you talking about?

And 9/11 still happened on his goddamned watch.

And was the memo entitled “Timothy McVeigh Determined To Strike The Alfred P. Murrah Building”?

Why, what is your criteria?

My criteria? Well, the bombing occurred on April 19, 1995 and Bill Clinton was president at that time.

Anthing else?

What is your crieteria that it is domestic terrorism while the snipers are not?

And HE got caught and arrested, without having to torture anyone or pack them overseas for “rendition”.

How the relationship to counter-terrorism changed with 9/11 and how they were moving into uncharted territory operating with a new set of distinctions. How the ‘after-the-fact’ law enforcement methods fell short in prior administrations, and so they went to a system of pre-emption. It represented a radical shift in policy. I also whole-heartedly agree with him that going after the previous administration for political decisions that are disagreed upon sets a dangerous precedent and would mean that every Presidential administration from here on out would be subject to trials every time the dominant party shifted. It would be a horrible catastrophe for the nation. I disagree with his idea that the ends totally justified the means but I do understand his rationale, I disagree with it on moral grounds, but not to the point where I irrationally hate him and am filled with disgust every time I see him on TV.

On behalf of the four thousand plus dead soldiers, dying in a war utterly unnecessary to prevent further attacks, absolutely responsible for easing and veritably abandoning the pursuit of the perpetrators of 9/11 (and for allowing them to get closer to a nuclear Pakistan), and fully accountable for an increase in recruitment of those who would harm American interests (who would otherwise not have joined):

thank you Mr. Cheney.

Conservatives are so beyond you liberal elites and your “facts.” So, pinko, it looks you have a nice little poll there that shows the public has high unfavorability ratings for one Dick Cheney. Well, la-di-fucking-da, motherfucker. What if I imagine a different poll, in preposterous circumstances, and I further imagine that Dick Cheney wins “Sexiest Man Alive” in this poll! What do you have to say to THAT, you Jacobin!!! HMMMMM???

I find this line of argumentation leaves your typical lib absolutely speechless (well, occasionally they mutter something that sounds like “whatever, deranged retard”).
