Bah, that’s what I get for stepping away from the game. At least I brought back some medical supplies. ::goes forth and ministers to Sevo::
::racks brain for chess-compatible food, flirts with Kythereia::
Well at least in the movies Chess often goes with Fine Wine and fancy food. Or it goes with a murderer who plans his kills according to chess captures, thats not really a food though.

Umm… I think MW’s board looks different than mine…or did I miss something?
:dubious:
Err, oops, thanks for point that out, I looked at his pawn move and expected e4 so much that I read his move completely wrong, big brain fart. Typical MindWanderer move :smack:

No worries, mate. I was going to suggest that an obvious typo could be taken back anyway. I would never do this in a tournament game, but (provided you agree) it could be appropriate here.
Whoo-hoo!
Actual spectators at a chess game…
Bless you, Sevo.

Your typo rule sounds good. My look at the position now suggests you have an advantage now because of Bishop vs Knight and the board is opening up. I might be able to make something happen with my rooks. If I can keep control of the d file.
I think I should have tried to prevent your knight coming to c5 but after that the only way to prevent the knight for bishop trade was to move my bishop to a weaker square and clog up my mobility. After Ng3 if you would have did something different I was going to move into e4. My ideas were about getting my knight(s) to good forward positions.
And then I moved Rxd3 instead of Qxd3 because Qxd3 leaves the defense of my bishop and if you had moved e4 there were certain possibilities of me losing a piece because of my bishop being exposed to attack after the knight moved.

Just in time, since 18. … Qxc2 wins your queen at least!
I await your alternative 18th move. (We’re not playing touch move, obviously.)
Yes, two bishops are better than a bishop and a knight, provided the position is reasonably open. Which is why I snapped up your bishop on d3 with my knight.
That’s a fair summary. I don’t know if I should have played e5, because it weakens the d5 square. However I was sure it would irritate your knight on e2!
True (and well spotted!). However I would have to risk losing the e-pawn (if the game went 16. Qxd3 e4 17. Ngxe4 Nxe4 18. fxe4) and my d6 pawn would be under pressure. Admittedly your e-pawns are doubled and weak, but I don’t think it’s enough compensation. So I would have answered Qxd3 with Rfd8.
I can’t believe I missed that my queen was undefended. LOL.

Chess is a difficult game. Seriously.
Given that this replacement move loses the exchange (=rook for bishop/knight), what would you like to do?
I don’t see how I can do much better. I can escape losing a piece immediately maybe, but I have run my queen and rook around in response to your knight and my a pawn is going to hang.
I guess I’ll try one more attempt at move 18. Like I said, I tend to do ok and then make some tactical blunder.
How about 18. Qd2 ?
