chicka boom.

Okay we got little ones visiting. The conversation some how got turned to a child’s book, Chicka Chicka Boom boom. Well I went into my rendition of the 70’s version of Chick a boom, and everyone looked at me like I was nuts. I explained there was a song like that, they were not buying it and attributing it to the fact in the 70’s I dropped enough acid to melt down a small garbage truck. I swear there was such a song. I googled to no avail. Any help out there?

Is that it? I recall the song as well.

I believe you’re remembering “Chicka Boom” by Daddy Dewdrop. 1971. The Nixon years. Troubled times, but some good tunes.

(Edited to correct syntax.)

“Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, doncha just love it”
I only remember the chorus, cannot remember the verese lyrics.

Then again, I thought this thread might be about the new spate of Axe mens’ colonge commecials.

Girl Scout leader to the (maybe?) rescue. A repeating song in which a leader says the line and the rest of the group repeats.

Is this what you were looking for? (Hopefully I didn’t quote too much of the lyrics)

Here it is.

I’m certain he’s asking about the Daddy Dewdrop song.

*Last night, I had a crazy dream 'bout a chick in a black bikini
She looked so good, she couldn’t be real, she must be a magic genie…

Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t ya jes’ love it (repeat 3x)
Chick-a-boom, Chick-a-boom-boom-boom…*

Issued March 1971. #9. Available on “Have A Nice Decade” and its individual volumes on Rhino Records, and many others.

Hey, simulpost!

Thanks guys, while my sanity is still in question by those around me, at least my memory is not.

When I saw this thread, the first thing I thought of was the fact then when we got a copy of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom for our kids, it came with a tape of Ray Charles himself giving a reading of it!!

Cooler than cool - Brother Ray hittin’ it with “Now A told B, and B told C I’ll beat you to the top of the coconut tree…”

AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!

Mommy of toddler and babysitter runs screaming from thread
(Nope, no use. Stuck in head.)

I was 6 years old at the time and it was my first favorite song.

It was tied in with the Groovie Goolies.

I hated this song in general, but what I really hated was the emphasis placed on the middle line of the chorus, especially on the word ‘you’. The first and third line, it’s

don’cha jis lovit

but in the middle line he drags it out and pronounces every syllable, adding extra emphasis to ‘you’:

don’t you just love it

I always hated that. Could never get that particular phrasing out of my head. Still drives me nuts.

You sure it’s not “Chika Chika” by Park? The downside is that it never utters the phrase “chicka boom” but that’s of small concern…there’s a problem with the sky tonight

So who else came into this thread thinking that it would be about porn music?

Nope. I had the song burned into my memory sometime in the early 70’s. Aaaaaaugh!
