Question inspired by the thread on cliche porn movie “plots.”
Back in the early Eighties, I remember seeing a standup comic who did a whole, lengthy routine about porno movies of the Seventies, and especially the soundtracks. He went on and on about how you always knew someone was about to score when you heard that waa-waa pedal start playing “Boom-chick-a-wow-wow…”
That comedian never became a big star, as far as I know, but millions and millions of people must have seen his act, because even people who don’t remember seeing it can sing/hum/mouth that “Boom-chick-a wow-wow” tune. It seems as if everybody gets that reference as a shorthand reference for porn.
So, anyone remember who that comedian was? Whatever he’s doing for a living now, he MUST be proud that something he made up has become part of everyday pop culture knowledge!
