ChiDope 2004

Miss Creant, I believe Garfield said he’s interested, and HELLOOO, so did I. And the kid. We love mini-golf.

I want to golf too. We haven’t even asked people to sign up for specific Saturday events yet.

Don’t pull that trigger.

Well, upon reading my lasted Secret Cabal Update, let it hereby be noted: there will be an alternate dinner on Saturday night. Pizza shall be its name, and delicious is its game. Details forthcoming, but I just wanna put it out there as an option. We might do the pizza a bit closer to the Black Rock, thereby making us the first to drinks. Which may be important, since this is a Dopefest we’re talking about. We could drink 'em under! It’s not that big a place!

I’mma be in Chicago!

With Daerlyn! And LaurAnge! And Mnementh! And Cosmopolitan!

I get to meet so many of you!
Yay!

I imagine I’ll be at Reza’s, but then I think I count as one of Kyla and bristlesage’s 3 hourseguests.

I’m also a non-smoker whose asthma is triggered by second-hand smoke. The more non-smoking, the better, says I.

Chicago’s Pizza on Lincoln just south of Belmont was suggested as a possibility, or Gino’s East on Lincoln & Diversey (a relatively small place). There’s also The Art of Pizza on Ashland just south of Belmont. The Art of Pizza and Chicago’s are about a fifteen minute walk to Black Rock, I’d say.

Are the Cubbies in town? Even if not, is it possible to tour Wrigley?

CuriousCanuck, the Cubs are in town but they’re playing the Cardinals, which means a sold-out game for all dates. You’d have to get tickets from a ticket service (although it’s possible you can go really early and snag some day-of-game release tickets, or maybe SRO).

If you wind up going on Saturday, I can meet you, as I’ll be there with my fiance and child.

I decided I want to throw my hat into this ring too. I have no idea where I’m going to stay or how I’m getting to Chicago, but I can’t think of any reasons to stay away. I need to do a little more travelling anyhow!

E-mail should be in the profile…

Here is the link to the hotel with the room block for the fest. If you have questions that are not answered at the web site, please e-mail me.

Here are the names for people I have rooms for:

Typo mna
Billdo
Demo
Metrochic
Ginger/Dave
BoyoJim
Cosmopolitan + 1 addl room

All reservations are from Friday to Sunday. If your stay is outside these dates, please e-mail me.

If you want to stay at this hotel and don’t see your name on the list, please e-mail me.

The hotel has a complimentary shuttle service that runs from O’Hare airport to the hotel every thirty minutes. I’m sure that’s mentioned on the web site, but I figured I’d put it out there for those who don’t like to read the detail stuff.

Quickly posting before I run out to a job interview… you’ll forgive me if I’m a little flighty and distracted…

I would like to go to Reza’s too. Yeah, I’m late. Whatcha gonna do about it, PUNK??? Or whatever Plan B ends up being.

I wanna go to the potluck, too.

I also have an air mattress (full size) I can donate to the cause, should the cause arise.

HELL YEAH. What’s more fun than mini-golf and batting cages? Color me in.

And I’m in a Cabal? I’ve always thought I’d have to be evil to be in a Cabal. And wear an eyepatch and stuff.

I’ll need a room too, Jane, unless one of the fine folks that have already signed up wants to share. Email’s in the profile.

I’d like to get on the e-mail list please. And, I’d like to come to Gundy’s party since I think it is okay to bring my 7 year old. I believe I’ll skip dinner at Reza’s (although the food there is YUMMY - we had a company holiday party there a few years ago), but I will be meeting the gang for drinks later.

Ok, but you have to caddy

As a brand new chartered member, I must say that I think a Chicago style pizza would be good

Barring unforseen problems, and assuming I can either find a cheap hotel room or share a room with someone… I’ll be there

Reza’s is nice and all, but maybe a culinary tour of Chicago would also be in order? Pizza for dinner and Weiner Circle either immediately before or immediately after Black Rock?

Non-Chicagoans owe it to themselves to be attacked at the Weiner Circle (preferably by the staff and not the patrons).

If there’s a big enough interest, we can certainly arrange something (in addition to the million other things). Hell, if there’s enough time, we could even manage a walk through Hyde Park/UC and an el ride back up (after Doc Films and Medici’s).

I would never oppose a good food tour.

Woohoo! Looks like Mistee and I might be joining you!

I am totally stoked! (I’m preparing for the 80’s party already, in case you couldn’t tell…)
