Here’s the weekend’s rundown. We’re going to manage attendees via Evite, so if you’re considering attending, please e-mail me at ekgund at hotmail and I will add you to the invitation list. Also, I’m keeping a cell phone list to make it easy for folks to meet; if you’d like to be on that list, please send that information to the same address.

At this point, I’m planning to have Mexican entrees for dinner (with vegetarian options) but stay tuned for possible changes. I am nothing if not capricious. Beer and soda will be available, but if you want something special you’ll have to bring it.
*Transportation notes: * Hotel guests who are at the hotel at 5:30 can take the shuttle arranged by Jane for a nominal fee, about $5-8. Please contact Jane or post here to indicate whether you’d like to take the shuttle. Otherwise, train and driving directions are posted in the Evite.

Contrary to the linked page, Black Rock does not serve food. However, they do allow you to bring in outside food, so if you haven’t eaten, that’s something to keep in mind. This is a 21+ bar, so if you’re underage you probably won’t be able to get in. If you’re interested, I can give you contact information and you can try to work something out with the bar’s owners, similar to last year.

We’re thinking that most people will be driving/hitching a ride to this one, but if you require directions on public transportation I’d be happy to supply them.
Uptown Poetry Slam at the Green Mill

[li]Lincoln Park Zoo [/li][li]Chicago Cultural Center [/li][li]Ba’hai Temple [/li][/ul]
Final notes: For those who are planning to take public transportation, $9 CTA 2-day visitor passes (and $12 3-day passes) are available for online purchase. These give you unlimited rides. I recommend getting them ahead of time if possible so you don’t have to mess around with the fare machines or stop at a currency exchange. The CTA’s website also has a trip planner for getting directions via bus and train, as well as general tourist information.
From Eva Luna, theChicago International Youth Hostel is low-cost lodging right in the middle of downtown. Make your reservations early!
And, Jane D’oh! still has a few hotel rooms available for $65/night + tax. If you’re interested, e-mail Jane as soon as possible at jdoh16 @ yahoo.com with your real name. She’ll post an updated reservation list a couple of weeks before ChiDope weekend.
Whee! ChiDope! Yay yay yay! I can’t wait to see everyone!
