For those who may have caught the news in different threads, Superdude and I will become Friends in Pain as we head out to Aurora on Saturday (early) to Skin of a Different Color for him to get tat’ed and me to get my belly button pierced.
The studio opens at 12:30 and we’ll be leaving from the House of Ill Repute right when Shadow and I get there to have our work done in time to be back for the afternoon’s festivities.
Hmmm… I’ve been thinking about getting a tattoo on my left shoulder for quite a while, but I don’t have any idea what kind to get yet. So who know’s that might be the time.
Good lord, I hope not. I didn’t know what one of those was until I looked it up on the web (thank gawd for the internet - fount of every weirdness, alternative lifestyle thing, and pervisity there is! ) and my eyes about bugged out lookin’ at that piercing.
All I could think of was, “How DO you have sex with that pierced that way?!”
porc, I’ve got one more seat in my car if Shadow decides to ride along. It’ll be close quarters, but isn’t that kind of the fun of it?!
Actually, I was seriously thinking about heading downtown either to that museum with the T-Rex or going to the top of the Sears Tower and admiring the view or something really touristy like that. Of course, I have no set plans or anything.
What about Dim Sum at the Phoenix in Chinatown on Saturday afternoon? Anyone? Anyone?
Shadow, if I were you I’d consider going to the 95th in the Hancock instead of the Sears tower. Yeah, it’s not at high, but instead you get a very nice (overpriced) bar where you can have an expensive drink with a great view, probably for about the same price as going to the observation deck of the Sears Tower. Just a thought.
BunnyGirl, I live in the burbs, so I would just meet you there in the unlikely event I’ve decided to go through with it by then. Why Aurora, anyway? - it’s pretty far away from the city, and I find it hard to believe that you couldn’t find a reputable place in the city.
The Field Museum of Natural History is open on Saturdays until 5 p.m. I would actually rather see dinosaur bones than pony up money to see the smog up close. I’ve already looked it up on the Chicago Transit Authority website and found out that I can take the Red Line to downtown and then transfer to a bus to get to the museum. If anybody else is interested, let me know.
ts, You make me laugh every time, you realize that, don’t you?! Good, your coming with. All the more fun. Being the seasoned amateur on Sleazy Nuns, I also somehow figure you’re an expert on belly button rings so you can tell me if mine looks okay when it’s done. Close examination may be necessary. Oh, I’m all for Dim Sum too. I LOVE Chinese food. Nummy num num.
porc, I went to the most reputable studio here in town and that’s who they recommended. The owner of the studio here says the guy is a personal friend of hers and his staff of artists and piercers do excellent work. Good enough for me! Let me know if you end up wanting the address.
Shadow, cool by me. Just didn’t want to make you think you didn’t have options! Hubby and I went to the Aquarium last fall and the Museum was just across the way. Very cool looking.
Is it possible to do Dim Sum and Cubbies? Having never Dim Summed, I don’t know if it is a good morning after thing. I don’t know how raucous the Fri Night will be. Early afternoon Summing, then catch the late innings at Wrigley?
I mean Fred McGriff, Sammy Sosa, and Mark McGuire all on the same field? And they serve Goose Island beer there!
We can always do something else, but really, if you’re heading out to Aurora for tattooing and piercing, you’re probably not going to be back in the city much before official ChiDope starts anyway.
Dim Sum is just a fun thing to do with a big group, but not that many people seem interested, so the idea may get bagged.
Hey, I’m all for food of any kind. I don’t mind getting up and on the road by 7:00 a.m. EST; that’d put us into Chicago around 9:30-10:00 a.m. CST or sooner, depending on how many State Troopers I can miss. Would that work? We wouldn’t have to leave for the studio until around 11:30 or so (if we want to be there right when it opens at 12:30), but I’m flexible.
Shadow, will that work for you? You can sleep in the car on the way down and promise not to play my new Fuel CD any louder than 45 on the dial!
Good lord almighty, the 25th cannot come quick enough for me!!!
Say that reminds me…I may have to put together an official ChiDope soundtrack. I hope these bars have jukeboxes. I’m not sitting in a pub listening to freakin’ jigs all night.
Whew, I’ve been away for awhile. The plans seem to be coming along just fine. jarbabyj, I will bring along some reels and strathspeys, and hornpipes as well as jigs so you don’t get overwhelmed
I am seriously looking forward to Dim Sum - it is the perfect morning after food! I am envisioning getting there quite early, with a few papers, lots of hot tea and people to talk to…I would like to see it last for several hours as people slowly show up.
Other than that, I am going to get some catering menus from Chief O’Neills for Sat night and see what kind of per person deal we can work out for food or whatever…can we get a roll call as of today, Thursday Aug 2nd or so?
