Chief Scott Repellent? Or Chief Scott vs Silent Bob

So what is your favourite smiley?

HUGS!

I like this one  : rolleyes :

That’s me a lot!

Although, I do like  because it’s purple.

I just looked these up, to see how many we had to choose from.

I surprised to see that :o is supposed to show embarrassment. I always thought it indicated boredom – a yawn.

But instead it’s an “oops.” Go figure.

Where did you look up the smilies?

thanks!

Brynda, when you open up a Reply box, look in all that fine print at the top, just under the ‘Straight Dope’ logo. There’s a link there to the smileys.

Or you could try clicking here if you just want to look, right now.

;j

I really don’t like :stuck_out_tongue: and  , as they usually indicate someone laughing at their own joke, which I find to be the ultimate in annoyance.

I like

Smilies generally piss me off although I will use the basic  just so people know I’m kidding.

I can’t believe no one has brought up :wally: yet!

I like this one.

The on I tend to (over)use the most is
Keith

I hate you spooje.

 is my personal favorite.

 that smiley should be coded in as :Surgoshan: as he most resembles that one.

HUGS!

So who’s in charge of drawing these things?
Where did they come from?
And, most importantly, why isn’t there one of the Hitchhiker’s logo?

This one :stuck_out_tongue: is close, but no hands.

Time to lobby for the Hitchhiker’s Smilie! Who’s with me?

Hitchhiker Smilie?
Count me in!^:p^

Now if you want to tell me how to bold people’s usernames, I will be even more grateful.

Hey, how about a thank you smilie?

You bold usernames the same way as you bold everything else. Click here for the quickie tutorial on vB code, which includes the instructions for bolding, underlining, and italicizing, as well as for hyperlinks,

and other cool stuff.

There should be a thread on the ATMB forum explaining more advanced stuff, like sub- and superscripts, funky symbols not found on your keyboard, and so forth.

In order of preference, I present of you the Divine Triune of Smilies:

:D, it most appropriately conveys my jovial sense of humor when posting.
, accurately exemplifies my feelings when I screw up a post. Unfortunately, this happens more frequently than it should.
, ain’t this smilie kool or what?
