Chimaera bands

:smack: can’t = count

I always thoguht their song Africa was more popular.

And don’t forget the Smiths (and The The) didn’t Johnny Marr play with them on an album or two?

And don’t forget Cibbo Matto/ Butter 08. I think the lead seinger from both was the girl’s voice on 19-2000

Africa was more popular, but it was performed by Toto.

Well shave my chest and call me naked! You’re right!

The original Heartbreakers(not Tom Petty) came out of what was left of the New York Dolls with Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan and Richard Hell who had just left Television

johnny marr was one of the founding members of the smiths.

the first twilight singers album had a lineup of greg dulli (afghan whigs), happy chichester (howlin’ maggie) and shawn smith (satchel/brad/pigeonhead). after the fisrt album dulli kicked them all out.

the new pornographers have quite a good lineup (for canadian standards). neko case (solo), a.c. newman (zumpano), dan bejar (destroyer), pus some other people i can’t recall at the moment.

but are these examples “supergroups” rather than “chimaera groups?” who knows…

Check out Post #3.

How about Hindu Love Gods. REM - Stipe, + Warren Zevon. True, it was more or less just releasing the practice session for * Sentimental Hygeine* (or was it Transverse City?), but it counts, methinks.

I’m pretty sure nobody is going to think this counts, as the combined band didn’t take a new name, but I like it anyway.

It was right down the bottom! How could you expect me to see it there? Erm … Genesis had that guy from Mike and the Mechanics and the lead singer from Stiltskin…

The Arc Angels. Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton who were Double Trouble behind Stevie Ray Vaughn joined Charlie Sexton and Doyle Bramhall II who were both solo artists. They made one fantastic album that was produced by Little Steven. The group fell apart because of Doyle’s heroin habit. He is clean and sober now and apparently they have played some live gigs together recently.
