I’ve noticed that many Chinese men who I see in Chinese restaurants have long hairs growing from moles on their faces. Not that I’ve paid that much attention but it seems that the hair, often two to three inches long, is only growing out of a single mole. Do they shave the others? Or does it happen that they only have one hairy mole on their faces? Why don’t they shave them? Does the hair have a significance?
I noticed the same thing during my travels in Malaysia. I was told that it is considered good luck to have long hairs from a mole. It is a very strange thing to see.

I’ve seen this once and the bunch of hair was so long it was startling. I also heard that in the Chinese culture, it symbolizes good luck. But I can’t find any reference.
im chinese, and i have a hairmole on my face, but not all chinese are like me … maybe i should shave it … but i don’t think my father would appreciate that. he touches it when he wants good luck
ooooooooh, wow I’m enlightened. I’ve seen a few who had strands about 10 inches long and always thought to myself, don’t they notice it?
but now I know, thanks.
We didn’t really get a satisfactory answer in this thread, either.
