Chip and Dale

CAZZLE - I’ve owned both of those albums! I don’t know what happened to them, but I too reveled in the joy of Chip and Dale and detest those other chipmunks.

Kyle

You’re welcome, cazzle, I just wondered what it would be like to have someone “forever in my debt”!

And Flodnak, I did try clicking on the thumbnail to enlarge it, but unfortunately my monitor must not be as good as yours because it was still basically unreadable to me. But thanks for following up on my “honest work”!

Tyklfe - I’m glad to hear it! Oh, at last someone who understands!!

Our copy of the album was scratched on the track “Here Comes Santa Claus”. My little brother grew up singing the part where the song would jump “So hang your stockings and… hang your stockings and… hang your stockings and…” - it was so funny! He would have been only three at the time, I guess. How quickly time flies!

I’m anxiously awaiting my new copy of the old album to arrive. I hope it doesn’t take too long!

Oh, and MisterThyristor… does this discharge my debt?

cazzle

Wow, my name in a sig!?! (blushes) :o This is almost as good as my first post when racinchikki said that she loved me “in a purely platonic ‘chocolate-enabler’ way” for finding her Dark Chocolate Aeros online.

Consider your debt totally discharged (and you don’t even have to keep it in your sig for long). I get reinforcement enough just from being able to help.

You wouldn’t happen to know where I can get that other Chip and Dale song would you? Did you find it in your MP3 search?

No, I didn’t. I’d love to get it too. That’s the song I remember them singing as they ran around Walt Disney’s office. I haven’t seen that clip in years, but I often hum the song! Haha. It’s so very sad!

Well, cazzle, the reason I’d never heard of that album is because I’m an Old Fart. Christmas 1980, I was eleven years old… too old (at least in my own mind) for a Disneyfied Christmas any more. We did own another album that turns up on that same page though (“Mickey Mouse Christmas Surprises”) - interesting to see it turn up there.

Sigh…I’ve gotta hammer out another one of these "are you sure"s. Do you mean Molly Ringwald, the actress? She did do some singing when she was a tot (her dad is a musician). If so, get her name right! Unless you’re referring to someone else entirely, in which case my head is spinning.

You must not have ever heard the haunting and beautiful Hardee’s commercial, circa late 1980’s:

::wipes tear from eye::
It still moves me, after all this time.

D’oh! You’re right!! And I know it’s RingWALD, not RingWOOD - that was a typo!

Oh! I’m so embarrassed!

:::Cazzle crawls away in shame:::

Oh, don’t be ashamed, cazzle! At least you didn’t say Ringworm!

Hahaha.

Yes, I can be thankful for small mercies

Another confirmation that the almub DOES exist.

In fact, I am holding a copy of the audio casette version right here!

It reads:

DISNEY SONGTAPE
MERRY CHRISTMAS CAROLS

-The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t be Late)
-I Wish it Could be Chriatmas All Year Long
-Sleigh Ride
-Away in a Manger

-The First Noel

Side Two:
-Here Comes Santa Claus
-Joy to the World
-Silver Bells
-The Twelve Days of Christmas
-Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Mine is an orange casette with a picture of Donald ringing a bell in a Santa Suit a la Salvation Army.

My personal favourite song is the Twelve Days of Christmas. I always think Goofy and Donald’s bantering about the Five Golden Rings is hilarious. Donald interrupting Chip and Dale by quacking with the beat in the Chipmunk Song is classic.

I always thought the rendition of The First Noel was a tad whiney. I far prefer the “Disney-ized” versions over the tracks that feature kids and that guy, e.g. Silver Bells.

Ah, the memories. I have to go listen to it now…

Oh how I envy you, Soup_du_jour!

Still, I hope it will be only a couple of weeks until I’m holding my own copy in my hot little hands again. Until then… well, I’m just going to have to listen to the CD I bought LAST Christmas, “Disney Presents A Family Christmas” which has everything but the Chipmunk song and I Wish It Could Be Christmas All Year Long. Considering all I really wanted was the Chipmunk song… ahh well. I love the Twelve Days of Christmas where Goofy and Donald get into the fight! We thought it was the funniest thing ever when we were little tacks

I got it! I got it!!
My very own copy of Disney’s Merry Christmas Carols.
I’m so perfectly happy right now
Tonight, I’m off to Mums to borrow her record player so I can listen to it as well as look at it.

I love you guys. I love all the world. Happiness is blue and has Disney characters carolling on the cover. :):)

Disney’s Christmas Collection also features a duet by them on the last track. And Vol. 2 has them taking part in The Twelve Days of Christmas

I too was a big fan of the Di$ney Christmas albums of 1979 & 1980. I was lucky enough to find “A Family Christmas” shortly after I started collecting CDs, but was discouraged as well that several songs were not included on it.

Well, flash forward many years and I discover that in 1999, a CD was released IN JAPAN (only the Japanese appreciate completists!) that includes the 7 songs NOT included on “A Family Christmas”! Your Chip ‘n’ Dale song is one of them!

It has the same cover and title as the first Christmas album, “Disney’s Christmas Favorites”. I discovered and purchased it from Amazon many years ago. I don’t know if it’s still available or not. But I’d be happy to upload it if you are interested!

Was it sung by The Zombies?

Welcome to the SDMB, Grinnygog! We call threads that have been inactive for a long time “zombies,” which explains Chefguy’s joke.

Since you’ve revived it, though, I’m going to move it to Cafe Society, which is where we discuss the arts.

Again, welcome – enjoy your time here.

Well, being a Christmas-themed song, it was the Time of the Season!

Hah! Well played, sir.
