Chocolate and lemon?

There wasn’t a ‘meh’ option. It’s an OK combination, but a bit of a waste of two great flavours.

I adore that flavor combination. See’s Candies makes a lemon chocolate truffle that I snitch out of the truffle box before anyone can get near it. A little flavor orgasm every time!!

Maybe difficult to get in the USA, but Alain Ducasse makes stewed lemon ganaches infused with a hint of Earl Grey. Very exquisite. He also makes one using the juice and zest of lime. The secret to bringing it together is the use of very good dark chocolate.

Is that the one with very tiny bits of slivered almonds and lemon peel? I’m addicted to it, it’s wonderful. I keep one of those in my desk drawer at work at all times.
I also like the Milanos from the OP. I buy a bag whenever I see them at the grocery store. They’re good, I think they’d be better if the lemon were amped up more and a bit more tart. The lemon Oreos they did a while back were awful, though - waaay too sugary.

I loves me some lemon Milanos, but my favorite ones were the strawberry/dark chocolate which weren’t around very long.

Many years ago I spent a week or so in Italy. My go-to snack was two scoops of gelato: one chocolate, one lemon. The brightness of the lemon and the depth of the chocolate really balance each other beautifully.

I haven’t had it much at all in the past couple decades, but now I’ve got a hankering.

While I wouldn’t eat them at the exact same time (like as a piece of candy or a cookie), I’d definitely eat lemon and then a piece of dark chocolate. Kind of like eat a lemon then have a dark chocolate chaser. But I also eat lemons like some people eat oranges - I love them - so it’s probably stranger than most people would even consider trying.

The local chocolate specialist makes a little dark chocolate pyramid filled with limoncello (Italian lemon-based liqueur). Love it.

Every few years, I happen upon a Dunkin Donuts that has my favorite kind of donut: chocolate frosted lemon filled. When I find them, I buy two.

That’s the one; my wife and I shared one last weekend while chilling out on the couch after the kids were in bed. We were pleasantly surprised- we had to look up the almonds on the package; we didn’t know what they were at first.

Guess I should’ve been a little less creative in the choices. I was trying to cover all the possibilities with a Boolean tried/liked, tried/disliked, never tried/sounds good, never tried/sounds bad combination, but my overly colorful description for the fourth option seems to have misled a few people.

It appears that this flavor combination is more popular than I thought. I’m surprised.

Trader Joe’s has tubs of *very *yummy lemon cookies drizzled with chocolate. There’s not that *much *chocolate on them, but they’re really addictive.

I always liked the yellow (lemon) Tootsie Roll Pops. Therefore, the combination must be valid.

It’s one of my favourite flavour combinations!

I like chocolate and orange … but chocolate and lemon is just wonderful. I do only eat dark good quality chocolate (OK, so I’ll eat milk chocolate if it is put in front of me) and combining it with fresh lemon zest is delicious.

I make a lemon chocolate steamed pudding, I also fill chocolates with lemon curd and most years I make my own birthday cake with layers of chocolate mousse, lemon curd, lemon mousse and meringue.

better than lemon is lime. Dark chocolate and lime. Combined with a good cigar and your favorite scotch.

Not much beats a double dip ice cream cone made with chocolate ice cream and lemon sherbet. – I think I know what I’m having for dessert…

My birthday’s next week… just saying (wishing)

I’ve never tried chocolate with lemon, but chocolate with orange just doesn’t work right, and I expect that lemon would be even less right. In fact, chocolate clashes with most fruits: It’s good with strawberries, cherries, bananas, and (in some contexts) raspberries, but those are the only ones I can think of. Any citrus, apples, pineapple, blueberries or blackberries, peaches, plums, rhubarb… no.

Probably wouldn’t make it in the post … but I can share the recipe!!!
