Chocolate Covered Ginger Altoids are Awesome

And they are CRACK! I discovered them at Walgreen’s last night, and I can’t keep out of my tin. They had cinnamon & peppermint, too.

Anyone sharing the love?

Man, don’t know about the Altoids, but at Trader Joes’s (slogan - we’ll dip ANYTHING in chocolate!) my wife picked up some chocolate coated ginger. NO ONE would eat more than one of those things. The universal response was along the lines of, “My, how - uh - interesting.” Even from proclaimed ginger addicts. It became a running joke over the holiday season, whenever we had guests or were invited anywhere, we brought them along and placed them out for general consumption. I would never have believed how long it took for such a small container of chocolate covered ANYTHING to disappear.

Glad you are having better luck with the Altoids. I’ll be interested in seeing how many folk step in to agree with you.

I think the crunch of the altoid definitely helps. Chocolate covered ginger sounds less appealling than ginger in altoid form.

I have a package of chocolate coated ginger I bought at a Harry & David’s outlet mall this summer. Actually, I bought two packages-- bought one in the evening. Tasted it, liked it enough to buy a second package the next day at a different outlet mall. (They were on clearance, so it must not appeal to everyone. I was traveling.) Everyone I offered it to enjoyed it ( so I think that consisted of my parents).

I also have a package of chocolate covered peppermint altoids which were given to my by Santa (in the form of my sister-in-law). They are surprisingly tasty–I haven’t had a peppermint altoid in a long time, but the other flavors of altoids that I’ve had have been overwhelming more than enjoyable. Still, I might have to consider trying other flavors if I think about it while I’m at an appropriate store.

One of our local small grocers sells little bags of chocolate covered ginger - wonderful! I have to ration myself and not walk past the shop…

I was brought up on chocolate coated ginger. I love it. I think my Dad started feeding me ginger when I turned two. Mmm, ginger.

I really can’t picture chocolate coated any flavour Altoids at all.

Maybe we got a bad batch.
Maybe TJ funkifies their ginger.
Maybe my family and everyone we encountered in December has no taste.
Whatever the explanation - I’m glad you all enjoy your individually preferred chocolate covered substances.
(I just finished the household’s tub of milk and dark covered almonds last night - need to restock.)

I’ve had the chocolate coated peppermint and thought the flavors weren’t great together. I hope to try the ginger ones sometime soon.
