Chris Kattan bites

You know, I loved what many refer to as the glory days of SNL (Lovitz, Carvey, et. al). But they’re showing reruns of them on NBC Up all night (which, thanks to TIVO, I get to see at a reasonable hour), and honestly, they’re not all that funny. Sure they have some truly hilarious moments, but they also have a lot that’s pretty forgettable.

I do love Mango, but mostly Kattan creeps me out. ESPECIALLY that Mr. Peepers. Too on-target!

“Chris Kattan bites”?

…tonight on SDMB…rain is wet. Stay tuned.

Oh yeah, and Cheri Oteri is fantastic as well.

ME TOO! He’s so mediocre it isn’t funny.

Me too. She’s so weird-looking that makes me laugh without doing anything.

I can’t stand Tracy. When he isn’t doing the inarticulate “thug” thing, he’s dressed up in drag pretending to be any black woman that can’t be played by Maya. (Which is a whole bunch of them.) And he needs to work on his impressions or get out of the SNL business. An imitation requires you to actually say more than one line over and over again, in your own inflection.

He’s the funniest one on the cast, next to Hammond and Ferrell. Unlike Fallon, when Sanz smirks or laughs in the middle of his delivery, he ALWAYS makes me laugh.

There’s only two skits that she does which make me laugh. The airport security person and the lead singer on Gemini’s Twin.

I saw him on the Daily Show a while back, and he was charming, calm, and generally a likeable guy.

It used ta be good
I think even after Lorne kicks it, they’ll drag his body out to still keep it on the air.
The show that NEVER ENDS!..
That said, very few hosts have bene good.
Buck Henry was great because he didn’t have a star attitude.
Frank Zappa was good,e speically since the coneheads made him crack up (we consume mass quantities!)

I recall some weird musical guests way back when, the best of which (not weird, good) Kinky Friedman.

I used to love the skit where Chris Kattan and Oteri did the married couple who couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Thats the only times I thought he was funny.

Here’s my theory on why everyone always thinks that the current cast of SNL sucks, no matter what the time is.

In every iteration of the cast, there have been standout members and people who SUCK. Every iteration. When enough time goes by, we remember the good people and forget the hacks.

I don’t know how many times I heard that SNL was horrible with the new cast in the early 90s. Mike Meyers, Dana Carvey, David Spade, Adam Sandler, Phil Hartman. All of them were hilarious. Who do we forget? People like Victoria Jackson. (AHHHHH).

This new cast, we’ll remember Will Ferrell, Darrell Hammond (who is one of the all time greatest SNL cast members…he is fantastic), and Tina Fey (for revitalizing WU). Hopefully, we’ll all forget Colin Quinn ever did WU…damn he was horrible.

Just food for thought.
