In Dan Brown’s novel, the The Da Vinci Code , it says something to the effect that Jesus Christ was more of a prophet than a god-like figure, but the church twisted facts to make him appear to be a deity. Now, I know that although the novel is ficticious, Mr. Brown did do quite a bit of research (I’ll put the link to his website in my next post on this thread).
The Catholic Church has had a history of anti-Semetism, with events such as the Inquisition. Could their past actions against Jews be the result of them trying to negate the possibility that Jesus was a Jew?
