Christians and 9/11

There are some Christians wackos who believe that 9/11 happened because America is “post-Christian nation” In other words, God hates this country and causes a massacre because not enough people are stroking his ego! Do they know how offensive this sounds? So much for a “loving” God.

Is someone of note saying this now (linkety-link?), or did the hamsters hold on to this post for fully two years?

Some lunatic believes that God demands violence against someone else because of his religion? I never would have thought it could happen.

Whoa. I think that’s officially the first time I’ve seen “member” under your name manhattan. I almost fell out of my chair in shock.

Regarding the op: Even most christians think those people are nuts. I wouldn’t get too worked up about them.

Some Christians think AIDS is God’s scourge on gay people.

Some Christians believe people of color are inferior because the mark placed on Noah’s son was to turn his skin dark.

Some Christians think women are the root of all evil in the world because about 4500 years ago, the very first of us led you fellas astray with an apple.

Some Christians believe some crazy shit. So do some members of all other religions, especially those who could be characterized as fundamentalists.

I’m not seeing this as a news flash, though.

Word. If it makes you feel any better there are other Christians who pray for these people and hope that God will clear the hate out of their minds that’s clouding their judgement.

There are some Muslim wackos who believe that 9/11 was warranted because America is an evil country. In other words, Allah hates this country and calls for a massacre because there aren’t enough Americans stroking his ego! Do they know how offensive that sounds?

There’s nuts in every tree, babe.

Jodi,

[hijack]When I first moved to the south, I was disapointed at how many fundamentalist christians had both eyes. See, I’ve got this little splinter in mine…but you’ve got a two-by-four in yours…need some help, Revrend Bubba?

I’m game to take a shot at replying, but first you’ll have to translate your post into English for me, because I’ve read it several times now, and I don’t know what the hell you’re trying to say.

Yeah, don’t you just hate that?

Jodi: Ever hear of the quote “Before you point out the splinter in your neighbor’s eye, remove the plank from your own”? It’s fairly common among Christians (common enough an atheist would know it in America), and it means that before you correct another, rectify any major missteps on your own part.

He’s implying that the Christians in the American South are hypocritical.

The verse in question.
