It sure is. It takes honest self examination about our less attractive qualities and a true seeking of the path to leave those things behind, through love, forgiveness, and even honest courageous confrontation at times. It isn’t easy, especially when we have the challenges of regular lives, with jobs and families, etc to deal with. With a consistent reasonable effort and discipline we can make progress.
Ignoring and justifying our less attractive qualities while assuming we are forgiven and heaven bound because we believe Jesus died for us doesn’t cut it for me.
To be fair and clear, I know not all Christians are that way. Many are really trying to grow and do and be their best. Too many others give lip service to JC while being willing to lie and cheat, and bear false witness, to name a few. Jerry Falwell frequents prostitutes , cries on national TV and continues to make millions being a preacher while making off hand comments about killing a gay person if they propositioned him, "to the APPLAUSE of his congregation!! IMO that’s pretty dam far from what Jesus taught and it bothers me.
OKay I’m ranting now!!
