Christmas dinner in New York City?

I just moved to NYC, and my parents will be visiting in a couple weeks. Since my tiny apartment isn’t fit for entertaining, we’re dining out on the 25th (after seeing the Radio City Christmas show, of course).

The thing is, I have no idea how to go about finding out who’s serving Christmas dinner, and I know my chances of securing a reservation are quickly diminishing. We’d prefer to avoid the Christmas Story Chinese food route, but we’re otherwise pretty flexible about cuisine.

So, any suggestions?

Well if you want to go out on christmas eve, I have a friend who works a bar on the border of chinatown and wall street

Try Googling “NYC Restautants” - you’ll probably get a few sites that list many restaurants - or pick up a Zagat’s - and start dialing

Yeah, I’ve been Googling like mad, but it’s hard to narrow down which ones might be open on Christmas Day. Just thought I’d ask on the boards in case anyone here has had personal experience with this.

I have no advice for you, but I wish you the best of luck! I will be moving there in a few months so I will be watching this thread to see what advice you are given. It may come in handy later!

Look what I found for you

Well if you must go the Chinese food route, I recommend Ruby Foos (more Asian fusian than Chinese) near Times Square. Don’t know if they’re open.

Assuming places are actually open, you might actually have an easier time getting reservations since most people are off visiting families.

Hey, thanks!

You know, as long as you don’t object to the duck still having its head on, you can probably avoid any unlpeasant shocks…
