Christmas present suggestions for a Dr. Who fan?

I need to buy a present for a family member for our annual Christmas name draw. I haven’t seen this particular cousin for a few years and don’t know much about him, but my aunt tells me he’s into Dr. Who. Cousin is also in law school and a veteran. My budget is $25-$50. I’ve never actually seen an episode of Dr. Who, so I don’t know where to start with this one. I know the good people of the Dope, however, are both watchers of Dr. Who and full of good ideas. So, any suggestions?? Thanks!

How about a nice Adipose stress toy for all those late night law studying sessions?

Or maybe a fun t-shirt?

You can’t go wrong with a sonic screwdriver.

I got a USB hub that’s in the shape of a TARDIS. When you plug in a USB device, it makes the noise of the ship. I love it.

The sonic screwdriver is a great one. I got one from my daughter a few years ago. You can also get them at the BBC America Shop. Even if they have one, they’ll still love it.

Another good choice would be a Dalek Action Figure

A copy of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Plenty of Whos in that book.

ETA: Or Horton Hears a Who.

My brother’s a fan and I directed his wife to ThinkGeek.com for cheapo Who toys and shirts, like the screwdriver Eyebrows linked to. He’s already got the USB hub that Aanamika has

Amazon has lots of Doctor Who DVD

Any Cyberman ep is good
Doctor Who: Revenge of the Cybermen

*Doctor Who: The Tomb of the Cybermen
*Amazon.com

*Doctor Who: Attack of the Cybermen *

Doctor Who Dalek War: Frontier in Space & Planet of the Daleks (Stories 67 and 68)

Doctor Who: Destiny of the Daleks (Story 104)

Doctor Who - Daleks - Invasion Earth 2150 AD (1966)

Great Daleks dvd’s.

A serious fan is going to have the episodes.

I’d second the screwdriver - I’m getting one this year - but note that Thinkgeek.com carries several types: a prop, a flashlight and …wait for it…a screwdriver. I’d also go with these awesome tee-shirts, and this totally cool mug. This is basically my Xmas list.

Of these, I’d most suggest the shirt and the cup, but the cup is out of stock. The screwdriver would rock too.

2nd vote for that but there is a sitededicated to such toys.

Now if they would just make the Dalek in to a remote control toy. Put a pointer laser into the weapon too. The new remote control toy to drive the cat or dog crazy. The Dalek needs to have a rotating mode for when it’s out off control. It has to say common phrases too.

A scarf? Black trainers? A v-neck jumper?

For the cheap present a stalk of celery boutonniere.

Mr. Panda and I bought this really cool wall clock for our 10 year old Dr. Who fan for Christmas this year. We paid $47 something, which included shipping:

This clock is also pretty neato, and a little less expensive than the previously mentioned clock:

We did the Sonic Screwdriver for Christmas last year. It is, indeed, bitchin’.

You might like this and this.

There are also some links in the comments here to Doctor Who themed t-shirts, such as this, this, and this.

So you want a remote control talking Dalek that scares cats? No problem.

That was close, but it didn’t have the laser pointer so they chase the light around the room.

Important question - is he a new Who fan or a classic Who fan? Because if you got my husband an adipose toy, he’d have a pretty hard time faking hapiness about it.

As someone said earlier, a fan is going to have the episodes on DVD already. Maybe go for something more gimmicky like a tardis-shaped piggy bank, something like that.

Yes, there have been so many Doctors–both “old” & “new.” Some fans are very picky; others like them all, more or less.

My choice? A bow tie. Bow ties are cool.

Get him a fez.
