Christopher Eccleston: Hot or weird-looking?

When I first saw Christopher Eccleston, I thought he was funny-looking. I have since changed my mind; now I think he’s hot. He’s certainly not traditionally good-looking, but he has a lot of character in his face; I also really liked his Doctor Who character, which helped make him more attractive. So, quick and dirty poll - hot or weird-looking?

Hey, there’s no option for “both.”

The two are not mutually exclusive. Especially with a face like his.

He’s one of those cases where he doesn’t do anything for me but I could see how he might for someone else.

Hmm, I didn’t think of that. I can still see his weird-lookingness, but now I see the hot more. I guess you have to decide if he’s more hot or weird-looking.

I think he looks like an Easter Island statue. Not necessarily a bad look, just a bit unusual.

He does what Armando Iannucci likes to call “gurning” which is a big cheesy stupid grin that is quite alarming to be confronted by and only manages to emphasise his sticky out ears.

I don’t have an opinion as to “Christopher Eccleston: Hot or weird-looking?”, surely one of the most vital issues of our time, but I think it’s only fair to submit some photos with more hair. It tones down the sticky-outness. (Of course some women like that. A friend of mine refers to Russell Tovey’s ears as “handlebars.”

That picture of him dressed up as John Lennon is amazing - I had to check to make sure that was him (yup, same nose).

He looks like Ralph Fiennes’ angry cousin. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him smile.

But he is hot in Elizabeth.

Well, lots of planets have a North.

I’d vote for hot and weird looking.

Which goes for Matt Smith, too. I was disturbed to hear The Latest Doctor was so young. But, in action, he’s a weird, long-limbed, rubber-faced Muppet. Hardly your standard Young Cutie.

Sorry, another “both” here. He’s odd looking, but with that smoldering intensity and self confidence thing that’s hot no matter what.

Definitely “both.”

I always hear a banjo tune in my head whenever I see him. . .

It’s a little better with the beard, but I still find myself thinking he’s more likely to bite the head off that pidgeon than release it. . .

Someone in a Who thread (it may not have been here) posted a side-by-side of Eccleston and Wallace from Wallace & Grommit. It was amusing.

Interestingly, there’s a lot more of Smith than usual on display in the latest episode (“The Lodger”), and I was surprised by how gangly and awkward he isn’t. I think they normally exaggerate that aspect through his mannerisms and the way his wardrobe is fitted.

Dunno what to vote. He’s definitely one of those chameleon-like guys that can change their look as a Google image search will tell you. Imho he still doesn’t approach the lower limit of “hot”, but he may bump into the category of “interesting”.

It was here, the thread about how Eccleston didn’t particularly enjoy doing Who.

Here’s the post.

Does the choice have to be binary? He’s neither.

So so so so so hot. One of my major crushes. But that’s because he’s weird-looking, obviously.

I admit he’s weird looking, but overall he’s hot. I’ve been picturing him as Felix Castor as I read through Mike Carey’s series, and it works perfectly.
