Chrome just flagged this site as malware for me

That’s not resolving the issue at all.

I am gutted that dodgysexrobot.ru hosts malware. I mean, I expect it from the Straight Dope but not there!

I don’t see it in IE. Maybe you have some other anti-virus software that uses the Google list?

dodgysexrobot.com, never mind .ru, seems to be available if anyone has a tenner a year to waste/has a brilliant business plan about dodgy sexy robots

Firefox did the same thing to me just now

Google has issued a bulletin that searching for crab habitats may lead to websites that promote the training of attack crabs.

Firefox

No, it will not be useful. The site is clean without the ads. Google will review without the ads, okay it, they’ll turn the ads back on AGAIN, and we’ll continue this cycle. This is the stupidest thing I have ever even heard of. Nice solutions to the problem, guys.

I don’t know why but the dot ru makes it much sexier. Dot com just sounds dodgy. I’ll have to scrounge up some rubles. And Soviet-era sex robots, obviously. Which is what I believe that Jerry and Ed are currently running the server on.

I got the warning again too. Using Firefox, but I think it is Google that tags the sites, not the browser company. As far as I could make out from the warning message, they have not actually re-checked the site since the first warning was withdrawn a couple of days ago.

Ditto Chrome.

The message we see is being served by thousands of different servers and there is some lag time for all of them to wind up displaying the same thing when new information gets pushed out to them.

Right now the message I see most often has been updated to say:

Comparing that to the original message from a few days ago, 98 more pages containing malware were discovered since the original warning.

Yeah, that’s what I thought.

I heard that Google is trying to fund some new projects and if enough of us make a donation to Google, they’ll put us on their whitelist.

Safari

If you want to browse without warnings in Safari, you can turn off the warning by command+comma, choose the Security icon, and uncheck Warn when visiting a fraudulent site.

Thank you! This just started happening to me, but I remembered this thread and stopped in to see what the status was since I was stuck at “really fucking annoying”.

Other than Jerry’s initial attempts with ads earlier in this thread, the silence is deafening from TPTB on this issue.

Just saw the warning again. It has been hit or miss all day.

This time, Firefox itself is blocking the site for me. The “Ignore this warning” link didn’t do anything. I had to disable warnings in FF to access the site. Previously, it was just when clicking on this site in Google search results.

Post 237:

Weren’t the ads already off? You didn’t turn off the ads, see everything is ok, then… turn the ads back on, did you?

That would be IE saying “Malware, huh? COME ON IN!” and being all “Whaddya mean you don’t have privileges? Let’s elevate you to Administrator-level access!” because some genius at Microsoft said “Of course everyone who receives a program from any source wishes to run it immediately with no restrictions!”

Ever read those warnings in Windows Vista or 7’s User Account Control? They basically say “Hey, this could destroy your computer and the rest of the world with it. DO IT ANYWAY?”
