Chronology on the Middle East?

I’m looking for a detailed chronology of events in the Middle East that goes back to at least WW2, preferably with a particular emphasis on Israel/Palestine.

Yes, I have tried Google…

try this http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/static/in_depth/world/2001/israel_and_palestinians/timeline/

if that link doesn’t work go to www.bbc.com and look for the link to mid east in depth report

while you are surfing this area check out http://www.americanstateterrorism.com/ also.

Thanks, mate.

If I were you, I wouldn’t bother. If you need a good laugh, though, go ahead. It’s another of those kookfest web sites that insists the whole 9/11 thing was a grand conspiracy and not an actual terrorist event, but you have to be pretty adept at ignoring facts to get anything out of it.

The BBC site is more or less reasonable, though.

I might recommend an essay by P.J. O’Rourke called “Our 2,000-Year Old Middle East Policy Problem.” (Its in the collection called “Give War A Chance” which also includes his Gulf War Diaries correspondant series originally published in Rolling Stone.)

Basically outlining the problems Rome had in dealing with the Middle East and Israel/Palestine area. Problems that are remarkably similar to ones the US has in dealing with the area. Its funny yet… very very depressing.
