Chrysler HEMI MDS.

Anyone have one? The Multi-Displacement-System has me curious.

I think Cadillac tried it in the ‘80s. But the technology just wasn’t there.

So. A computer shuts down fuel flow to 4 of the cylinders. And adjusts the timing. Is that pretty much it? How responsive is it when you need to ‘punch it’ when it’s in this mode? Can you force it to stay in 8 cylinder mode?

21mpg (EPA estimate) highway is pretty good for a 350. An additional 100hp and 75 ft/lb of torque over the 287 (4.7L) with the same or better mileage.

My Wife has the 4.7L and gets about 19 mpg highway.

On a related note.
