Chuck was a legend, and there are a million great stories about him. The only coach to win 4 Super Bowls, and a class act on and off the field.
Rest in Peace.
Thanks for the memories, Coach. Now go kick Landry’s ass in Heaven. Between you and the Chief you ought to put together a hell of a draft.
RIP
Long live the Emperor. RIP. He’ll always be THE coach of the Steelers.
That man was good at football. Seemed like a nice guy, too. And I’m not even a Steelers fan.
Reading those articles, he seems like a really cool guy, which is something I did not know. RIP
Noll was one of the greatest coaches ever, but one of the most admirable things about him is a trait almost nobody seems to emulate: he DIDN’T live in his office! He had a family life and other interests besides football!
Even during football season, he went home for dinner almost every night, and according to his old protege Tony Dungy, he always told his assistants to do the same!
Noll understood that there’s no need to work 24 hours a day. A coach’s job is to come up with the best possible game plan, have his layers practice until they’ve mastered it, and then say, “See you Sunday!”
