I have a guilty pleasure and it is the TV show Chucky that serves as a continuation of the Child’s Play movies, probably the most fun horror-comedy series of the 1980’s and 1990’s. And 2000’s, to be honest.
In a rarity, the show is actually a sequel and in continuity to the original movies series, dating back 35 years to 1988’s Child’s Play. Chucky is still voiced by Brad Dourif, his girlfriend is voiced still by Jennifer Tilly, and Billy Boyd even comes in once in a blue-moon to voice their child.
Even the little kid from the 1988 Child’s Play is back. Same actor all grown up!
Anyway, it is an absolute hoot. I’d recommend watching all the Child’s Play movies first and then watch the show. It’s not only funny, it’s thrilling and is really unique. Hits just the right spot between horror and comedy.
Does anyone else watch this? Third season premiered just the other night.
I have not watched this yet, but I noticed it when browsing our streaming channels looking for something new to watch, and wondered if it was any good. Peacock, right? Thanks for the rec, will definitely take a stab at watching it.
I’ve seen the original movie, but it’s been years, and I may have seen a sequel or two, but have little or no memory of them. Will I lose much context watching the show without familiarity with all the movies?
