Church and State in schools

I could only watch a little of the video. I found it kind of creepy, what I could hear. Wouldn’t want my kids singing songs about Obama or Bush or most any other president, but I know schools are going to do this kind of stuff. Since the video is supposed to be from last February I guess it’s a tie in to President’s Day or maybe MLK birthday or even Black History month. I’d not call it brainwashing, anymore than it was when we learned about Washington and Lincoln when I was a wee school kid. I just find indoctrinating kids in full out patriotism a little strange.

Then again, when my kids were little we lived in Thailand and they had to sing the king’s song everyday. They really got into it and it seemed “cute” at the time. Probably helped that I had no idea what the words meant.

At every company I’ve worked, an informational email was sent out to the entire company when a new person was hired into a senior management position (e.g., Vice President of Marketing). These emails invariably talked about all of the accomplishments this person had, even though they’d only just started working for the company.

So, one would assume that these accomplishments were made in their past.
