Church confession and crime.

It’s a staple of cop shows that the murderer or other criminal has confessed their crimes to a priest but the priest can’t be forced to testify. Are there real life examples where priests decided to testify about what they have heard in confession?

Well, the privilege legally (conceptually, anyway) belongs to the penitent. So even if the priest wanted to testify, his testimony would not be admissible against the penitent.
