Church Police Skit (Monty Python)

This skit has me quite puzzled. To what do they refer?

“They’re coming to take me away ha-ha, ho-ho, hee-hee, to the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time… :)” - Napoleon IV

It’s made up stuff, it doesn’t refer to anything real other than two different organizations with a lot of power and influence. If you have to investigate dead bishops left on the landing why call the church and the police when one call does it all. [YELLING]The church police![/YELLING]

Rat sorbet or strawberry tart?

Gotcha! (I’ll have the Rat pudding, a crunchy frog, and a seagull-cicle to go, please!)

In case anyone isn’t familiar with the skit in question, it is at:

I was going to try to explain it, but…naah. I will give you a few hints.

–the inner joke is that the clergy are like the cops; they police the sinners and send them off to “jail” (hell). God is the Chief of police.

–All the food jokes are just typical Python grossout humor, like the “Worst Family in Britain” skit, or Mr. Creosote in “Meaning of Life.”

And a Mallard fizz to drink.

Easy on the mallard.
