Hey dopers!
I’m with a relatively small group of students rocking it out in Italy right now. We’re down south at the moment, been staying at a monastery in Castellamare Di Stabia for the last week, visiting Sorrento once and right now I’m in an internet Cafe in Capri. We’ve been to Pompeii, Herculaneum and a ton of other ruins sites (we’re all classical students, so we read Latin and have an interest in Roman history)
So far I’m enjoying Castellamare more than anywhere else, these places are so touristy, and it’s annoying to see packs of Nike-clad, backpack-wearing American tourists speaking loudly in English when this group has taken the time to learn some of the language and observe the local customs. There doesn’t seem to be anti-American sentiment herre, but there’s the same anti-clueless goofy tourist sentiment as anywhere.
Well, we’re going swimming now, so I’ll be paying and moving on. We go to Rome tomorrow, so Internet Cafes will be far more available then. I’ll check back when I can.
Hope all you guys are having as much fun as me!
