Citibank you bunch of fuckwitted asswipes

LAME RANT AHEAD!!

MY husband closed his account with you fuckers and shredded his Citibank card three YEARS ago. He realised today that someone had gotten a 725 dollar cash advance in October on this card and called you asswipes to inquire about it. The first dumbass said he couldn’t help and transferred him. The second dumbshit said that she couldn’t give him any information even tho IT WAS HIS ACCOUNT! The third person FINALLY agreed to send out an itemized bill after 15 minutes of bullshit.
Why did it take you fuckwits 45 minutes to agree to send a fucking itemized bill?!?!?

Any fucking wonder my husband decided he didn’t want to deal with y’all anymore?

Oh and BTW, whos bright fucking idea was it to CHARGE 15 dollars more a month for an electronic payment? You cocksuckers can wait till the fucking MAIL gets there and pay that flunkie in the mail room 5 dollars an hour to open your fucking mail you greedy pig fuckers.

After the Apocalypse, only cockroaches and Citibank will be left standing… because they are pure evil.

Gee, my Citibank bill payment is free. You’re getting screwed.

I’ve always had a decent relationship with Citibank - they gave me my first credit card in college, and now they’re the only two credit card bills that I have. I also had a checking account with them when I lived in NYC, and I have never been treated so well at a bank - I LOVED my checking account with them!

However, since moving to Ohio two months ago, I was unemployed for a little while. And unfortunately, I got behind on my bills a bit. I was trying my hardest to pay them as quickly as I could, but when you don’t have a job, it’s kind of hard. I finally got a job, and was putting money on my bills as fast as I could. Well, Citibank kept calling. I understand that they wanted their money. But what would piss me off was the fact that I already HAD AN ELECTRONIC PAYMENT SET UP ON THEIR FUCKING ACCOUNT! The first time, I had a payment coming out the next day that I’d already set up three days earlier - so it was very obvious that I was paying the account! The guy called and I finally just said “Do you guys ever check your own records?”. He seemed kind of surprised and said “Excuse me?”. So I said “I’ve got a payment scheduled with you. Do you realize that? Or do you just like to harrass people even when they’re obviously trying to catch up on their account?”. He apologized and we hung up.

I got ANOTHER call this weekend on my second account! Friday night, I went into the automated system and made my payment for the month. SUNDAY afternoon, I get a fucking phone call about it! So again, I asked them if they ever checked their fucking records! Mr. avabeth was about to get the phone from me and rip someone a new one. The guy apologized and said “I don’t see the payment on here. Are you sure you made it?”. No. I just fucking sat on the phone for fifteen minutes Friday night with my checkbook listening to your goddamn automated system for the fun of it. I hung up on him, him still swearing there was no payment on the account. Which showed up the next day.

I do not pay my bills late as a habit. This was an unavoidable situation, and they even looked back on my history and said that this wasn’t like me. And I was making every attempt to catch the accounts up as soon as possible - which they could see. But unfortunately, I can’t pull money out of my ass to pay my bills, as much as I would like to do so. Personally, I think if you’ve talked to the collections department and they can see that attempts are being made to pay the bill, TAKE MY FUCKING NUMBER OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM! Don’t call me! Your calling me just reminds me that I’m still struggling to pay my bills, and it makes my anxiety level shoot sky high! (I’ve actually been reduced to tears a couple of times in the past month because of my bills being late, because I’m so upset by it - I just don’t let my bills go like this, I pay them and pay them on time.).

Thankfully, I caught up on the last of my bills tonight and I can rest easier. Now those fuckers will stop calling me.

Ava

I’m with ya.

It took me 4 phone calls to cancel my CityBank card. It was paid off in full. But I would still get statements saying I owed $0.

Took about 4 months for them to close the account.

Those people only understand threats.

citibank sucks!

i had a citibank mastercard. it was harder to get rid of than toxic waste

at one point i had a pretty large balance. my payment was due on the 3rd of the month. if i sent it in a little early, and it posted before the first of the month, it was credited to the month before, and i still owed the minimum due for the month. thinking that i had sent it in, of course i would not make another payment, and the next month i would have a 30 days past due notice, and a huge late charge.

i finally paid them off. at the end, i got a bill with a minimum payment due of ten dollars, and a total balance of 150.00. i sent the 150.00, thinking it was finally over. i got a bill the next month for 2.86. i called for an explanation. this was the interest charges for the time from when the bill was mailed and when my payment posted.

alright. that was pretty cheesy, but i sent a check for the 2.86. the next month i got a bill for .46 cents. again, interest from the mail date to the post date. i caklled again and carefully explained that my attorney was getting copies of these bills. they finally closed the account and credited me the .46

vinnie the loan shark has a better interest rate and more ethical business practices

I knew I’d never use Citibank when my dad got a call from them in September 2001. As many people will recall, with planes grounded after the terrorist attacks, mail slowed to a trickle. Dad didn’t get the bill until the day before it was due. He called them immediately to let them know he’d gotten it late and would be paying it immediately. The very next day, he received a demanding phone call from them, wanting to know where their money was.

The complete lack of common sense going on was just staggering. Ignoring the fact that my dad had actually called them to say that the payment would be late, no one over there had the brains to realize that the mail service had been delayed and a lot of payments were going to be late? Sheesh.

I dunno how Citibank works, but my company has an outside company that places calls to customers with overdue balances. We generate a list and send it off to them, based on the new bills that cycle out at various times in the month. No way to keep a customer’s number off that list, no way of their knowing if a payment came in from the date the bill cycled to the date the list generated, no way for them to know if a payment came in since or if a payment was “schedued.”

I really don’t understand why people get so upset about reminder notices and calls, but I routinely get hassled by customers who don’t like being “threatened.” Whatever. Pay your bill when you’re supposed to and it won’t happen. If you can’t for some reason pay your bill when you’re supposed to, understand that the company is probably going to follow up with you about it. If the letter or the person isn’t actually rude, get over it.

I don’t mind a ‘reminder’ call as you call it, but when they’re continually calling AFTER the payment has already been made and my account is already caught up, then someone needs to update the system. Three reminder calls in one week when I’ve already taken care of it isn’t going to make me pay more money to the account, it’s just going to piss me off.

I don’t care if it’s sent to an outside company and there’s ‘no way of knowing’. It’s not my responsibility to communicate that my payment has been made FOUR times to the same goddamn collections department - it’s the company’s responsibility. I don’t think it’s particularly fair to blame it on the customer when the company is the one who can’t get their act together and keep their records up-to-date.

As I said, I don’t pay bills late as a rule - I typically pay before the due date and I pay much more then the minimum (as I’m trying to totally pay off my credit cards and get rid of them). This was out of the ordinary for me, as they even noted on one call. I am typically a friendly, easy-going customer.

Ava

What gets me is, when you make a payment over the phone, THEY CHARGE YOU. Like it’s some great honor that they ALLOW you to pay them conveniently and then call EVERY FUCKING DAY if you’re behind 50 cents ON A CLOSED ACCOUNT

So don’t pay by phone. This bugs the piss out of me. Our credit card billing vendor charges us $3.95 per payment and we pass that on to the customer. I tell some customers this and you’d think I was asking for their first-born.

I’m starting to think Citibank and AOL are the same company.

avabeth, great rant.

otto, which company do you work for? I’m sure we’d all appreciate knowing which company to avoid.

I work for a local phone company so unless you live in one of three states you don’t need to worry your pointy little head about it. Pay your bills when you’re supposed to and you’ll never hear from us or have to call us or anything. Heck, we’ll even set you up on auto-pay for free, or you can pay over he internet, also for free.

Kinda been shown that auto-pay doesn’t always do the job. I grew up in WI and if I get back there I’d like to know what phone company to avoid.

Did I touch a nerve? I don’t see how the insult was warranted.

Eh, since it’s the Pit. Get a real fucking job you collection slave. What the hell is so wrong with your life that you get off on harrassing people whom don’t owe YOU any money?
