Citizen Trump (et al.)

He’s the exception that proves the rule. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, I know that if there’s an exception, that proves the rule invalid.

He may not be President after next week. But he’ll still be a rich white man.

So basically, no.

NARRATOR: “But of course, he didn’t smarten up. And things continued to look bad.”

Until Deutsche Bank et.al. foreclose on all of it.

True.

If Trump retreats to Mar-A-Lago and fades out of the public eye, I really don’t care if he steals every scrap of silverware and every painting and half the furniture on his way out. That would be a small price to pay.

And maybe he will just fade out. I think the actual leadership of the Republican Party will not be sorry to see the back of him, and he’s been more or less de-platformed.

The one that worries me is Ivanka Trump. Apparently she and her RealDoll, Jared, are moving to Florida (because they’re no doubt painfully aware that they’re not welcome in New York anymore). And it is, sadly, completely within the realm of possibility that she can get herself elected to the Senate from there. Certainly to the House.

She’d be subjected to ethics investigations (formal and informal) from the second she declared her candidacy, tho.

I can’t tell if y’all are just being snarky or not, but the president and his family don’t do their own packing. There’s an army of about 95 people who, on inauguration day, pack up the outgoing, clean, refurbish as necessary, paint and move in the incoming all in about 5 hours. The moving team has been coordinating with the Trumps to list what goes where and has been working with the Bidens, packing up their stuff. But the Trump’s stuff is still unpacked and will stay that way until the 20th.
It’s a logistical tour de force that doesn’t get enough praise.

We’re not going to do that again, are we? We’ve made that same mistake so many times. We “put what’s happened behind us” and we “move on”. We let Republicans commit crimes for four or eight years and then we let them retire quietly and keep all of the prizes they got from their crimes.

You want to know what Republicans have learned from this? That you can commit crimes for four or eight years and then retire quietly and keep all of the prizes you get from your crimes. We show them that crime pays and then wonder why we keep seeing new criminals.

You worry about Ivanka running for office? Let her visit her father in prison. That will teach her why people should obey the law.

While leaving Democrats with a huge national mess to clean up from your criminality, irresponsibility and incompetence, and then blaming the Democrats for the mess when they can’t clear it up immediately.

Would she be allowed to leave the women’s section for such a visit?

“Why are you denying my application to see my daughter?”
“Well, Mr President, I don’t think you understand what it is you requested.”
“I know what a conjugal visit is.”

:rofl::joy::rofl::joy::rofl::joy::rofl:

Did you realize (many people don’t) that there’s a sensible original meaning for this nonsensical aphorism?

If a street sign says “No Parking Tuesdays”, there is no need to spell out that you can park on any other day, that’s obviously implied. Stating the exception implies (or proves) the existence of the underlying general rule.

Government owned property is missing, and there is photographic evidence of somebody removing it? Why wouldn’t a judge issue a warrant?

(I’m sure it will turn out to have been moved for cleaning, but assuming it’s true that this is a Trump aide who has been told to pack it up with his stuff.)

Yup, the Perfect Master himself explained this in response to a correction by a reader.

In the hypothetical scenario I described, the situation was the Trumps left the White House with unsearched luggage and then some items were discovered missing from an inventory taken two weeks later. That’s enough to justify questioning them but it’s not enough probable cause to justify a search warrant. Trump’s lawyers would point out that hundreds of people had gone in and out of the White House in the period between inventories.

And one of them left with a large bronze bust of Lincoln concealed up their sleeve? And another left with the entire White House fine china collection up their sleeve?

I’m imagining the Fox News take on items missing from the official inventory: Biden has barely been in office a week, and he’s already stolen stuff!

No problem. She has none.

Three more days, you guys. I think we might actually survive this.
