It makes me cringe every single time.
In my experience, no one even uses these. People in the Northeast just use New Englander. (They do use Bostonian though.)
What’s the correct pronunciation?
I once heard a very lame comedian on a day cruise out of Miami asking people where they were from.
Some folks were from Tampa.
“Tampons, huh? Looks like we got a whole box here!”
I’ve lived in Connecticut for nearly four years, and never heard that term. People generally use the term “Nutmegger.”

The correct pronunciation is ill-ih-noi-an. The state is pronounced ill-ih-noi. Pronouncing the state name Ill-ih-noise is wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. It is my single biggest pet peeve.
While Baltimorean is the generally-accepted term for people from Baltimore, i prefer “Baltimoron.”

I’ve noticed that at some point in my state’s history, we became “Texans.” However, in some old documents, I’ve seen references to the people of this part of the world being called “Texians.” What’s the deal with that? Any other examples of origin-groupname changes like this?
The term “Texican” was also used. I did some searching and only found that the term “Texan” was generally used following annexation in 1845. No reason given for the change.

While most people in Newcastle (North East England) would describe themselves as Geordies, or Tynesiders, the more precise term would be Novocastrians (which I’ve always kind of liked).
Also, Mancunian=from Manchester.

Here are some I’ve often wondered about: What do the people from Truth or Consequences, New Mexico call themselves? Would it be “Truth or Consequencians?” Or Newport News, Virginia? Are they “Newport Newsians?” Or Twenty-Nine Palms, California-- “Twenty-Niners”, “Twenty-Nine Palmers?”
