If you don’t want to read the whole thing I bolded the highlights
I started a game of Civ c2p and really don’t understand what happened maybe someone who played this more then I did can let me know. The setup was:
Small cold wet island world - 3 civ’s
My plan was to quickly take control of my island, build on undeveloped islands, let the other 2 civ’s go at it while I can go after science to eventually build space and sea cities and let pollution destroy the land and take my opponents with it.
And I couldn’t ask for a better setup - I was on a small island alone while my opponents shared the only major continent. My plan was working flawlessly as I was developing factories and such and not building recycling plants the planet took the 1st bout of global warming. I was able to build the space ladder and get the colony that came w/ it - I could also build the most advances space farms (L3) but nothing else in space. All was going well until…
**With no warning my capitol revolted and broke away (barbarians). After 2 turns I was able to retake my capitol Then 2 more turns and all but 3 cities revolted to the barbarians (not including the space city but the one underneath it did fall). Why did this happen? ** My power fell way below one civ and about the same as the lowest civ.
Then it got even worse - My only remaining cities were now on that continent w/ the opponents - I was being bombed by the barbarians w/ my own stealth and eventually lose one city to barbarians (another revolt) then my one remaining small city fell to an opponent.
So my only city was the space city (which I build a capitol at when I lost mine). All I could build was L3 space farms and planned to build a settler (didn’t have space engineers) and plop him down on an island since I needed gold and production - but space cities don’t allow settlers. My only option at this time was to get a force and take a land city which I started to build. Then I got the advance for arcologies and could work towards space engineers. I stopped building my force up and threw everything into science while the other 2 civs were battling and advancing. I finally got space engineering (which also allowed L1 assembly pods (production). I quickly build all I could in my city space and build the space engineer.
**Here’s the main part I don’t understand:
Having no land (or sea) cities. I was able to get 3 space colonies up and working on a 4th - my power was very low compared to the other 2 civs and all of a sudden I saw a cut seen where my troops stood over a burning city and the game said I won. No option to continue (like civ (1)) to see what happened. As I was in space I really didn’t pay attention as to what happened below. What happened - why did I win???
The only 3 things I could think of is:
1 - my plan did work and global flooding took out all other cities
2 - the 2 other civ’s annihilated each other
3 - time ran out and I had the highest score (but my power was still lower)
I don’t like how it just ended w/o any reason pointed out to me.**
