Civ V for Mac

:frowning:

So I got Civ V for Mac. I am looking forward to an entire summer of playing over and over again.

I got back to Saudi and plugged it in. It demanded I log onto the internet to do something with something called “Steam.” It took 24 hours, but I got it done. (Some sort of update?)

Then I started up the game. Once again, it demanded internet access. It insisted I fire up System Preferences and select some darn thing. OK, done. Then I fired up the game.

I watched the little film with the wizened old king. Great stuff, then I waited and got to a black background with a gold frame. When I moved my mouse, I got a blue highlight, but since there were not letters, there was no way to tell which words I was selecting. I got through several such menus, but could not get the thing to play.

I am sad.

**Why am I not getting any text on the game menus?
**

Forgive me, the frames I am seeing around the text I am not seeing are blue, not gold.

Civ V Mac acted weird the first time I started it up. I ended up turning off the intro movie. What hardware are you using?

I just got off the phone with customer support. THey answered quickly and seemed to know their stuff. It seems my video card is not up to snuff.

Time for a new Mac!

Thanks to you all.

If it makes you feel any better, my computer is in spec and I still had problems.

Should I get a 'puter or a game machine, I wonder.
