Civil Trial: Trump v E. Jean Carroll (Carroll wins, awarded $5 million, plus 83.3 million)

Numbers according to CNN:

Emotional harm: $7.3M
Reputational harm: $11M
Punitive damages: $65M

Got my wish then!

So, he’ll bitch about her in 2 hours, then what? Haul him back in again?

Crank up the fleece-a-rube machine!

OK - just a civil penalty, but adds to his resume nicely!

Le mot juste. Toujours, le mot juste.

I take back what I said earlier. $83000000 might be enough to shut him up, at least WRT to this specific case.

What happens now? At what point does he feel the pain from this? How much will he fundraise off this verdict?

Can a jury award Mar-a-Largo as punitive damages?

So does he stop defaming her? Predictions?
Or maybe, how soon until he does it again?

Do you think he can wait that long? If he can’t find a camera to stand in front of in the next half hour, it’ll be on social media, in all caps.

I’d say dumping Mar-A-Lago on someone is punitive for whoever is stuck with it.

Does he have to front some or all of that money in order to appeal it? If he does, he’ll start feeling the pain today.

Likely, but he could post a bond to cover it.

If he can find a surety underwriter who is willing to do that, of course.

Judge Kaplan to the jury

“My advice to you is that you never disclose that you were on this jury, and I won’t say anything more about it," he added.

He has to post a bond or cash to prevent execution of the judgment pending appeal. The judgment is probably not going to be formally entered for a few days or weeks.

He can appeal without posting the bond, but she could start attaching his assets.

Honestly, in my quick skim, I thought you said she could attach his ass.

He’ll feel it when he has to post a bond, perhaps a cash bond, in the total amount of the verdict in order to appeal. He had to put up the $5 million to appeal the first Carroll verdict, in fact the cash bond was a total of $5.5 million.

Wow, the ordered damage award is even more than the $50 million hypothesized unthread, which is an order of magnitude greater than the first damage award of $5 million.

Maybe he can go for an order of magnitude greater again when he inevitably defames her again.

“Ms. Carroll? We’re ready to fly you in your private plane to your new golf course now.”

It’s always easy to agree on nice round numbers that don’t need nickel and diming.

… And the homeless folks in Florida appreciate the donation!"

That’s what I really want. His golf courses given to the poor.
