Next up: more trash talk from Donny Trashmouth, plus the inevitable but unavoidable appeal cycle. (The requirements to bond out to appeal will be a minor impediment, but surely a stable genius multibillionaire can front that little bit before grift starts flowing in?)
I disagree. I don’t think there is any amount of money that could get him to shut up about anything. He is simply incapable of self-restraint.
The bigger the verdict, the harder it will be for him to be quiet about it. This should really set him off.
The good news: CNN got Ms. Carroll and her lawyers leaving court and going to her car.
The bad news: The camera was so far back that viewers mostly got the back of the other reporters’ heads.
Trump’s next public appearance should be interesting. Well, not “interesting”, but you know what I mean.
You know what would be funny? Taking ownership of his most favorite golf course and opening it up to the public with a nominal fee for use but free to the underprivileged.
Trump just Truthed. CNN’s Kaitlin Collins read it out. Biden did this, Trump plans to appeal, political witch hunt, First Amendment, something something. Too fast for me to quote, but that’s the gist.
Can anybody find it, so we can get (heh!) the Straight Dope?
“Sorry you have to putt over the tire tracks on the green, but we hope to have those repaired by August.”
Well, there goes any bonus Habba may have been promised, not that she would have received it anyway. And she’d better have collected her fees upfront, because otherwise she ain’t getting those either.
This is probably the largest financial damage that’s ever ultimately originated by someone’s wandering tiny fingers insinuating themselves into the wrong place at the wrong time!
Overview from MSNBC

I haven’t found the actual message but here is a recap:
“Absolutely ridiculous!” Trump said. “I fully disagree with both verdicts,” adding that he will be appealing the decision and blaming Democrats for the civil lawsuit.
He went on to argue that the legal system was being used as a “political weapon” and argued that “they have taken away all First Amendment rights.”
“This is not America!” he wrote in all caps at the end of his post.
ETA: @Spoons I found the actual thing thanks to CNN.
“Absolutely ridiculous! I fully disagree with both verdicts, and will be appealing this whole Biden Directed Witch Hunt focused on me and the Republican Party. Our Legal System is out of control, and being used as a Political Weapon. They have taken away all First Amendment Rights. THIS IS NOT AMERICA!”
How can he be compelled to pay this? Serious question.
If he posts a bond (or cash) collection is easy. If not, they start taking things he owns.
Start putting liens on his properties?
Thank you!
ETA: Just saw your edit with his post. Double thanks!
It’s the law. Really, that’s all there is to it.
Trump doesn’t believe in that shit, though. I mean really, how? He won’t do it unless absolutely forced like at gunpoint forced.
Is that true even if he appeals?
My jury found verdict for the plaintiff in US District Court in California in 2016. They said the punitive damages were too high relative to compensatory. I think they said it was due to eminent domain or something akin to that. Maybe that would apply here.
There is some guidance here for how to do this in New York State:
Some of those remedies are pretty nasty, and potentially could involve being forced at gunpoint under the right (wrong?) circumstances.
