As I often do when these sorts of major stories break, I check in to see how Fox News is handling it. As of a few minutes ago, here’s how:
The main story: Biden has changed his mind about something to do with razor wire on border walls – one way or another, I’m not sure, as I didn’t read the article, but I assume that it proves that Biden is both senile and incompetent.
Then there are two secondary stories, of about equal stature:
A 38-year-old Memphis TV news personality has died. The cause of death is not disclosed. According to other (legitimate) news sites, it was a medical emergency. Fox News, however, helpfully points to the high crime rates in Memphis which – as Fox helpfully informs us – has a Democratic mayor.
At the same level of importance, a jury has awarded ridiculous damages against Trump in the E Jean Carroll case. The article consists almost entirely of Trump’s twuths on Twuth Social. (The headline over the image link is “Absolutely ridiculous!”)
I feel physically ill after visiting Fox News. I do it so you don’t have to. You’re welcome. .
I’m sure she is right there, spiritually, if not personally. After all, this is her pre-nup deal fortune Trump is blowing away. And for his usual philandering.
The reaction to this case (not here) distresses me. The insults about her looks, her having a healthy view of (consensual) sex. If she had accused Biden of this, they would adore her.
I used to read her Elle columns all the time.
Responding again to the comments about why the judge wasn’t coming down hard on Trump for his disrespect, one of the commentators on the BBC has made a similar point as I made upthread: the jurors could see Trump’s behaviour and that may have influenced their decision:
Assessed by whom? Donald Trump would value one of his ashtrays at $84-million if he wanted it to be.
Ms. Carroll (and her lawyers) should get cold, hard cash. If Trump, or some court receiver, needs to sell his Park Avenue property, do it. If that covers the $83.3-million, fine; if not, sell something else.
I read somewhere that Trump’s boasting in some other trial about the high value of his properties (I forget which trial – who can keep track of them all – but I think it was the Trump Org fraud trial) would come back to bite him in this ass in this trial, as indeed it did. The high value of the award was largely premised on his presumed wealth, as claimed by the Orange Buffoon himself.
So now Trump’s attorney Alina Habba is defaming Carroll. Hahaahhahah. I wonder if Habba is going to defend herself when she gets dragged into court. Hahahhhahaha.
I read somewhere that Trump recently claimed to have over $200 million in cash/ready assets (presumably no one actually has $200 million in a checking account). Possibly that was brought up in the recent court proceeding?
In the unlikely event that is true, coming up with the appeal bond should be no problem.
