Civil Trial: Trump v E. Jean Carroll (Carroll wins, awarded $5 million, plus 83.3 million)

In what way is it a good fit, unless you are claiming the prosecution in this case is delusional?

i reckoned on it being trump who is delusional.

from cnn Trump lashes out at women who accused him of assault after court hearing to appeal verdict in Carroll sex abuse case | CNN Politics

Flanked by his attorneys and addressing reporters at Trump Tower, the former president attacked Carroll and again claimed he “never met her,” “never touched her,” and that her claim was “fabricated.”

Trump also took aim at two women who were witnesses in the trial — Jessica Leeds, who accused Trump of groping her on an airplane in the 1970s, and Natasha Stoynoff, who claimed she was physically attacked by Trump while on assignment for People Magazine at his Mar-a-Lago property in December 2005.

It was indeed in reference to Trump having fever dreams about everyone is out to get him, as Rocking Chair said

he also rambled about how the doj is involved in all of it and everyone is out to get him.

And of course the Department of Justice does NOT bring civil cases (which is what this is). Not that Dim Donald is capable of understanding the distinction, of course.

Nor are his followers.

True, and I’m sure they’re happy to add this one to their cherished list of Injustices Against Our Lord.

So, two new defamation cases about to be filed?

Three.

Does Carroll have to file a new defamation case after Trump’s most recent public lies about her, or can she just obtain higher damages?

Yeah, Carroll 3.0 is more of a sequel than a new franchise

She’d have to file a new suit. And since $80,000,000 wasn’t enough to stop Trump from defaming her I wonder if the next suit will result in even higher damages.

Did he already pay the $80M, or would another defamation case punt the bill down the field? If it’s punting, he’ll punt till he’s dead and he will never pay (he doesn’t care if his estate pays and his kids get nothing).

And, her Testimony, which was damning- was only submitted as trump wouldnt let his attorney simply agree trump had met privately with her for private and personal reasons. just again showing- trump can be really stupid sometimes.

He put the amounnt into a bond, then appealed.

No, a new lawsuit, which would be a slam dunk, just means a new judgement. IANAL.

And if he wanted to appeal that higher judgement, he would have to add to the bond? If so…GREAT!

Nitpick. They do. But of course, not this one.

Separate judgment, separate bond, I would imagine.

I believe a new bond for each lawsuit. IANAL.

Wasn’t that bond invalid, for a variety of reasons? Whatever happened with that?

IIRC it was another delay tactic and things were delayed before he got a new one.

The $80 million bond was the good one. IIRC, he put up properties he actually owns as collateral.
